Got mine today--Great pen for $14

If Nathan makes a M800 or 149 sized pen with a flex nib like this one I will be very happy.

There just might be an M800 and 149 size in the works....you never know!! :-)

We are waiting for approximately 11,000 to come in within the next several weeks.

That's only 16 per member with at least 500 posts here.

I don't think that will be nearly enough. ;)

It won't be, but there will be more later.

Dick, you must be kidding! So Nathan must have perfected his new feed? That is so exciting, I wonder what colours are in this next batch... common, let us in! :clap1: :D ;)

The feed is perfected. It will make assembly quicker. Not sure about ALL of the colors, but I have heard a"rumour" that there might, perhaps be demonstators in colors other than clear; like blue, pink, yellow...don't quote me, of course.

Thank you for the reply Dick, the "hints" are also exciting! :D

I got my Poltergeist Pumpkin flex pen today and a bottle of Noodler's Apache Sunset ink.

The pen is great looking and works a treat. The ink looks wonderful using the flex pen. The tops of letters are a lighter orange and the bottoms of the letters are a darker orange - looks just like a sunset. I can hardly wait to try some other colors of ink. Its a great little pen, specially for the price!

Yeah, thanks Dick, as if folks aren't already excited enough about Noodler's pens around here!

I just noticed how well the Poltergeist Pumpkin colour matches the standard Rhodia colours! :puddle:

Got my pumpkin Flex on Saturday. Still getting used to a flex nib, but I think I'm eventually going to love it. I used Pelikan Royal Blue on a standard yellow office pad. The bottom handwriting sample is my usual writing. The top two are where I practiced using the nib the way it should be used.

My vulcan's coral flex made it across the pond! (Thanks to the Goulets' excellent service) Not sure why everyone wanted clear ones, I like them much better in colour. Even thinking of trading in my clear one from the last batch for another colour, now I've seen the colours up close! If I can ever get classifieds to work, that is.

Now off to play with my new pen, and try to resist buying an ink to match it.

I received two yesterday. Frankly, I'm underwhelmed. I certainly wouldn't buy another. These things are nothing like what I think of as a flex nib pen. Perhaps if you've never used a vintage Wahl or waterman these things would pass as flex nibs. However, they require so much pressure to flex a tiny bit that I think you'd end up with a blister. My hat is off to those of you who provided sample writing that demonstrated flex with these pens, both for your beautiful penmanship and your steely grip.

On the plus side, they only cost $14.00 so the loss is modest. Save your money and get a real flex nib.

First off, thanks everyone for the compliments! Still getting used to the nib, but its still a keeper for me. Went through my first fill of ink already. May have to slow down a bit

I have only seen 2 "railroads" with this pen thus far. I don't know if I just got lucky or what, but when I first used the pen I literally have to try to make it railroad. It is a definite different feeling than my old Watermans, but once I got used to it I found it to flex quite easy. I don't feel like I am being forceful or applying a ton of pressure. My only "beef" with the pen is the rate at which it returns to a fine line. The tines close quick, but remain wet for a second after. I'm searching for a solution to this, and I assure you if I find one I will let you all know.

I can't wait to see what comes out next. I could very easily see myself with one of these to go with every color I have hah.

How much money does, what you call a real flex nib, cost?

Have you tried adjusting the nib/feed? According to the videos I watched (never had a piston filler and need to know how to clean it), you can pull out the nib/feed to adjust flex and flow. Maybe that could help you.

Both of mine have been rail-roading quite a bit and I have subsequently been playing around with the feed and nibs to try and find the so called sweet spot.I saw the photo that someone posted of a pen with adjusted feed and nib that worked well, but alas, I cannot get it right yet on either my demonstrator or pumpkin. I hope that someone else posts a clear photo of a good working position for feed and nib as it may help others somewhat.

This is the way mine came factory. I haven't changed it simply because it flexes great, keeps up, and only railroads when I try to make it do so.

Hope this helps.

Today is my happy day. The fairies brought a lot of things from the Goulets'.

First.

fpn_1308114167__p1030331.jpg

Never used a flex pen, and boy was I missing the fun.

Some other goodies: Inks and free pens, yay!!

The BSB with the flex, great combo. You can see a bit of feathering, because 1) I am learning to use the flex and 2) it is a mail envelope, not writing paper.

Thanks Rachel and Brian for this excellent experience!!! A+

I just saw that Brian Goulet posted a video on his Ink Nouveau blog on some of the main issues people have raised, primarily adjusting the feed and loading the pen from sample vials. You can see it right here very helpful.
