Good Fountain Brush Pens And Where To Get Them?

Good day folks.

Lately, I have been rather curious about brush pens and on jetpens.com I found a few nice ones, the Kuretake fountain brush pen in particular, and now I am wondering if there are more fountain brush pens from different manufacturers? I don't mean disposable ones but really like $50 - $100 keepers lol. Do you have any experience with any of these pens? Which ones would you recommened? And my last question: Are there any European, or German even, websites selling these?

Thanks in advance.

Have you tried <http://www.kuretake.co.uk/> in England?

I do not know of the brush FP, I wonder how they write.... are they only for writing ideograms (Japanese, Chinese &c) ?

Thank you for the link. Well, I am sure you can use them to write normal latin letters, too but it's supposedly not made for that. People also use them to create ink drawings.

I picked up a Pentel Pocket Brush a few months ago and I really like it. The Kuretake brush is suppose to be a nice step up from the Pentel. I am now wishing I had bought a waterbrush at the same time.

have fun!

Pentel produces some really nice ones too. The problem is the use of synthetic hair though. The best brush pens are hard to get outside Japan. Most of the products available for us are cheap fude pens used for arts.

This is a nice one I bought in Japan, but you might get it online too. It's not that expensive, and it looks like it's made of real hair.

This is the best nylon brush pen, I have in my collection, the cartridges are loaded with a pretty nice black ink. I think I bought it from the shop I linked too. It could be a Pentel, it's the same cartridge system (they sell cartridges loaded with different blacks, the ones that come with this pen are the best imho, I use them in many other pens)

I'd love to help with names, but it's hard to look them up with my limited knowledge of the Japanese language. It wouldn't help a lot anyway, because you'd need to translate it back anyway. I'll take closeups of the names tomorrow, in case that helps.

Thank you so very much. I ordered that brush pen and it's superb. Thank you.

I have the high end sable brush one. I would highly recommend it, but I have to warn you. Their ink is proprietary, and is quite different than the Sailor fountain pen ink cartridges, and fountain pen ink tends to kill the brush tip. The fibers will splay out, and the other Other than that, it's a fantastic pen. I just don't see why one would ever need a brush pen, as Chinese and Japaneses can be written fine with just a pen, and a normal setup with a brush and ink stone is pretty well immobile.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
