Siena 3-Pens Pouch: A View

I like this pen case, but if the separation leather inside is only 3.5 cm, I'm worried the pens will get scratches due to rubbing..

I have used my Siena 3-pen case to store and carry around my three 149s for years. The case is outstanding: sturdy and very protective of my precious resin writing tools. Thanks for the photos.

I know this is quite an old thread but having just bought a Siena 3 pen case myself it was nice to read that I have made the right purchase.

My149 will be as snug as a bug in a rug.

Thanks Tom. Not too many as yet. A Kaweco Dia 2, Sailor Professional and a Montblanc Starwalker of dubious origin!

 

Hopefully my Montblanc 149's will increase to the tune of two, both sporting different nibs. I just want to see 3 white peaks when I open the case.

Well, after a long time to take a decision made difficult by the very high price of MB pen cases (and worst now, after the recent MB price increase), I finally broke the ice and bought a brand new Meisterstück Siena 3-slots pouch (art. 14313), intended to host three of my 149s.

I saw the case many times in the Internet, but I never had one in my hands until yesterday.

First of all, let me say that it feels very solid. I compared it with a very good 3-pens case by Finocam, also in black leather, which I bought time ago in Spain (by the way, Finocam pen cases are not so easy to find, but they are beautiful and not too-espensive; have a look at http://www.cabero.es/); with the same overall dimensions, the Meisterstück weights almost 30% more.

The back of the pouch, as well as the front and the flap are much more thick and rigid of what I supposed, so the pens inside are protected very well against shocks. Under the flap there is a groove, or an indentation, that "thins" the leather to host the enlarged end of the pen clips, to holds the pen more securely and to avoid the clips becoming loose after being clipped for long time. I do not plan to actually clip my pens, but I tried and the groove perfectly corresponds to the length of 149's clips. I haven't here a 146 to check it out, but I guess it should work with this model, and probably other Meisterstück models too (but not with the Mozart line).

The pouch may easily host three large sized 149s, and this is a good point, as I think this is one of the few MB cases that can be used for that. While I like very much other MB cases, like the old Diaries & Notes or the Westside (which are suitable for 149s), they come only for one or two pens. I also checked yesterday the beautiful (and super-expensive) brown 2-slots pouch in New Zealand deer skin, and it also fits two 149s quite nicely.

Inside to the pouch there are two separation flaps that run down for about 3.5 cm (1.5") to maintain the pens apart. While the interiors of the pouch are covered with jacquard lining, the divisors are in leather.

When filled with three 149s, the flap slides very tightly under the retaining stripe; probably not so much with thinner pens.

The calfskin is soft to the touch and a bit too shiny, but I guess it will greatly improve with age. The MB logo is small enough to make the case simple and unpretentious.

All in all, a very good classic, which I hope will do its service for many years to come.

I have the same Siena pouch, but for 1 pen. I can indeed confirm that 146 also clips perfectly (with regard to the indentation). I always clip my pen to the case, and am wondering what your deliberations are to not do so? Are you worried that the tension of the clip itself will wear out?

 

Furthermore I have recently bought a second pen pouch for 1 pen: the Urban (https://www.montblanc.com/en-nl/collection/leather/writing-instrument-pouche/124105-meisterstueck-urban-1-pen-pouch.html)

 

I must say that I like the latter way better than the Siena pouch. I prefer the pressurized closing mechanism and the soft interior lining to the thicker leather and the fold-over type of closing that the Siena uses. One big downside is that the Urban is quite a bit more expensive (I paid EUR 185).

I've got a Siena 1-pen pouch for my LeGrand BP and a Westside for my 1912 Heritage FP. The Urban Spirit seems to be made for the Starwalker Urban Spirit series of pens, not sure if it'll fit most other models.

Are we talking about the Urban I just posted earlier today? It fits my 146 perfectly.

Yupz. If it fits your 146, it should also fit my Le Grand BP too. I presume both are about the same size?

Yes, AFAIK these are roughly the same size. The BP is a bit smaller at the tip. The BP should be a good fit with the Urban pen pouch.

Just curious: I have clipped my pen to the small identation on the exterior. I see that you just shove your pens in the sleeve. Any particular reason why you don't clip them?
