Sounds close to Rolex and MB bashing to me.......Thanks

...nah...that sounds like precious resin cracking,a little glass breaking...and loud, sproing!,followed by the gentle tinkling of small parts falling back to earth....that is if one bashes with a small mallet...now if you bash em by dropping an anvil on them...well,be prepared for less variety of sounds but several animated characters might pop in and hum the anvil chorus.

Oh,and please....make sure your mallets and anvils are quality made.Buy Acme.

Acme, the leaders in creative mayhem for over 85 years.

I was browsing through the Rolex forum and under their "pens & writing instruments" subforum, the majority, 99% of the posts had something to do with Montblanc. Elsewhere, I occasionally see some people show off their most expensive watches sitting next to a couple of MB pens. When did the brands Rolex and Montblanc get exclusively paired together? Do these people share the mentality that if I wear a Rolex watch, I cannot use a pen that is not a Montblanc b/c something like a parker is way too ordinary?. I'm sure all these people use ordinary Bic pens and they either are too terrified of showing their Bic next to their rolex or they just don't know anything much about the world of fine pens. share your takes on this, especially if you are a rolex owner

Well, I have a Rolex, but a few Panerai's and AP's. I have a few Montblanc's and Faber-Castell's but only one Pilot. So to each His/Her own i guess.

With regards to Rolex and Montblanc being branded together, well thats pure marketing! It just shows that these two brands have the best marketing efforts in a world-wide scale.

These are two top of mind brands in their own feilds here in the Philippines. Just my $.02 :P

Actually the Acme was as great as you could get in a Buggy, demanding a high stepping bay Hackney to pull it.

I guess Acme got into 'military goods' by time of the Model T.

It's funny, in a way, how people will extrapolate a person's entire personality, complete with moral estimations and IQs, from something as meaningless as their lack of accessories; and look down on them for it.

Not to drum up any more controversy....but.....

Don't worry, it won't be too long before those Rolex and Montblanc pairings will turn into Montblanc and Montblanc pairings. I am not a watch fanatic (yet, I am working on it), but MB is making some pretty darn nifty watches now a days.

I own about 45 MB pens, 3 MB watches, and about 45 Vintage English Parkers. The vintage Parkers will probably be magically transforming to MB pieces of some sort or another.

I just like the MB brand, and their collectability(sp?), and their styling. If you buy a MB at a reasonable price, they will hold their value for a long time. I am not a VP or a part of any upper management ring...I just like MBs and my hobby money goes their way...just like my golf clubs are Pings and won't own much else other than Ping golf equipment.

Interesting discussion,

Brian

Guess I must be one of those ignorant bastards.

Branding will only take a product so far. Rolex is watch leader because they make durable quality timepieces; something well known around the globe. Dont take my word for it. Try one.

Research by experts has shown that overall; Rolex is the best and most successful watch maufacturer in the world. As for Montblanc I would not call them the worlds best pen maker; but they sure are iconic and as with Rolex hold their value well.

PM me. I'd be glad to email you the 10 page German atricle to back up my claim.

Owning a luxery watch has as much to do with keeping time as owning a luxery pen has to do with wiriting. We all know bic pens and casios perform far better. Luxery items are accessories and nowadays have little to do with functionality. Its all about tastes and preferences. Fortunately we live in a free world. Buy what you like.

Having said that, I'd like to see the look on your childrens face when they inherit your casio and bic pen as heirlooms.

I seriously doubt you could back that up, do they even make a watch with a tourbillon or perpetual calendar?

No turbillion; but they did make watches in the 1950's with perpetual calender.

Peace, my friend - I meant it more light-hearted (as in the English translation). French not being my first language, I apologize if it was offensive.

Yes, my friend, somewhere out beyond the misery of envy and jealousy, people are enjoying their lives.

I don't see why the price of an object should dictate it's wholesomeness. Just as some prefer to collect less expensive goods like Esties or Timexes, others tend to like the luxury of Rolex and Montblanc. Of course this may be for different reasons such as a show-off of wealth, or just liking a nice thing to add a touch of luxury to everyday life. I agree with subvet's and jonszanto's sentiments that one should not judge another by what they purchase.

Very true. Its horses for courses really.

Now lets get back to making fun at those bp users. There is no excuse for them

Well...OK...as long as they don't drive front wheel drive cars or tricycle gear airplanes...RWD and tailwheel or else! :P

I'll agree on the RWD, but Uncle Sam won't give me a trail dragger to play with. Say you won't hold it against me? :bunny01:

If my 'vulgar' car, pen & watch irrate people then so be it, far too many people spend precious time watching what others are doing in my opinion.
