But that isn't really a mistake. Obviously, you're simply stocking up in case that colour is discontinued... :roflmho:

How many bottles of ink do you need? Quanity is not the question. You always need just one more! :ltcapd:

My list:

A black1 (currently Waterman's in one pen and Noodler's black in another, this diluted 25% or more)

A blue-black (Diamine's version)

A blue2 (Diamine Prussian and Sapphire blues)

A red3 (Diamine Oxblood, although Noodler's red-black is calling)

A "highlighter" ink to annotate texts rather than highlight as such (Diamine Orange)

A"special" ink for difference4 (Diamine Damson)

1 Shady blacks for me please

2 I am not a fan of bright blues, Sapphire makes it because it is blue but still quite dark.

3 An everyday writing red, not an annotator

4 Love Diamine Damson.

This is how I use my Diamine Orange as well. I think it's perfect for this type of use!

I've got 28 colors. I probably use 10 of those on a regular basis: 5 blues, 2 dusky purples, 1 burgundy, and 2 browns. All the others are gathering dust.

That being said, I am currently lusting mightily after Noodler's Kung Te-Cheng (sp?) and Black Swan in Australian Roses. I'll have them both by the end of the summer. I need another blue and dusky purple/burgundy like I need a hole in the head, but they're in the MUST have :puddle: category.

Yeah, see I don't have an ink addiction. This just helps prove it to my fiancee ;)

I just showed this to my wife. Her response? "Oh, come on. That's just ridiculous!"

I had to refrain from trying to explain just how incredible this collection is: if the image alone doesn't inspire awe, mere words will never suffice. The, ah, differences in our perspectives also explain why my 70+ bottle collection is tidily tucked away out of sight in its own little cabinet, and not on display. One does make compromises, after all.

  • 2 weeks later...

I don't yet have a blue-black other than my vintage Sheaffer's that I'd rather not use. A navy or midnight blue would also be nice.

Then there are the wants... I'd like a nice red or other vivid color (Habanero?) for marking up my husband's students' papers. I don't teach any more (social work now) but somehow I still do a great deal of grading. :glare: Even a vivid green or purple would do.

The best red (IMHO) is Nikita from Noodler's. A bright fire engine red. I use it for grading a lot.

A blue that I use to change colors is Legal Lapis (I think most folks who like turquoise like this one, though it is not turquoise).

Some really nice dark blues are: Noodler's Ottoman Azure and Diamine Kensington Blue.

I have not used it, but I have never heard a bad word about Waterman Blue-Black. I don't own a blue black, but instead mix my own. I start with Waterman South Sea Blue or Sheaffer Skrip Turquoise and add Noodler's Heart of Darkness until it fits my mood. I do this in a sample vial so that I can get one fill and be done.

You can never have too many inks, although I am not nearly as well stocked as the pictures in this thread :puddle:

Can anyone tell the difference between "Ottoman Azure" and Noodler's "Blue"? Honestly, on a line-by-line, side-by-side comparison, they look identical to me.

I need at least five more. I need a highlighter (for highlighting!) and at least four more Iroshizukus. Oh, wait, and...

I'm joining the Ink Drop club on my next Goulet order (in a week) so I can have even more ink!!

...Wow. I can see what I'm going to be working towards in the next few years.

At the moment I only have a couple inks (high school student with no job = not very conducive to ink collecting) : J.Herbin Bleu Myosotis, Vert Empire, Bouquet D'Antan, Gris Nuage, and a Platinum Black. Planning to buy my first Iroshizuku (Kon-peki) in a few weeks, along with Edelstein Topaz and Noodler Black Swan in Australian Roses-- to be honest, I'm going for shiny bottles first and variety/color second. My ink wishlist is growing at a rate that outpaces my budget by a terrifying amount either way.

My writing pens are currently filled with Bleu Myosotis, Black, and Gris Nuage, though the last one is only for personal notes. I have a weak spot for any ink that shades, and I dabble in calligraphy. I love the way Bouquet D'Antan and Gris Nuage look in a wide dip pen with Gothic or Italic lettering, but in terms of normal usage, they seem too light to be practical, especially for anything I'm turning in for class.

It's the same with Scotch. So many great bottles, so many tastes. And not enough time and too few chances to try all of it.

In the end I have to reduce to some few of my favourites. In real non-FPN-life I'm not a parrot that can show off with paradisely excited colorswapping every day. So I have restricted myself to five serious inks and one Baystate Blue (but I do have samples lying around...)

I guess I'll stick addicted to Scotch, ink doesn't taste so well :-)

Greetings,

Michael

Wow. That's impressive. And I thought I had a habit. How many rows back do you go?

The empty spaces are going to be filled very soon, I'm afraid... :bonk:

my collection is not as impressive as yours, but i'm getting there. what worries me, though, i don't use ink that much on daily basis and so i have WAY too many inks than i need, and yet i still can't resist getting more :)

Well, of course ... you're only doing what's best for your ink ... keeping out of the light. :vbg:

Although it's a lot of fun to write with scotch...taken internally only. The FPN version of "drunk dialling", except the next morning it's still there, so you can either tear it up or decide it was an excellent idea after all!

Wow. Just "wow". Art Browns carries more inks, but you have more types than Joons, by far, and probably close to FPH. Do I count 17 Iroshizukus, about 15 Diamines, 25 Noodlers, and four Everflo inks, only about four PRs, but a blizzard of MB snowflakes? Double wow, although PR must be wondering how to get more of your business!
