#!$^@*¥, this is a hard poll setup!

To determine which 20 blue inks (= max) will compete in this contest, I did some research on this site.

As far as the favourite 'blues' are already mentioned in the blue-black poll, they will not appear here (such as the Noodler's and PR Midnight Blue(s)).

As far as a brand has more blue inks, I have chosen the most favourites mentioned in the brand poll.

So this is more or less a 'true blue' poll.

Also the popular discontinued Penman Sapphire Blue is not listed (though you may mention that you would have chosen it if it was listed).

If you are missing one like Montblanc, Duke, Yard-O-Led, Conway Stewart, Caran d'Ache etc., note that in your reply. Note that Cross blue is the same as Pelikan Blue.

Although I voted for the deep intensity of Levenger Cobalt, Namiki blue is the best water resistance blue I know of.

with all due respect and it's a very good poll, any poll that doesn't include Omas Blue is flawed. Omas Blue, New Blue, Roma and variants are special

i had to choose PR DC Blue. But I would like to have seen Diamine Prussian Blue. I think someone categorized it as a blue-black however. Something I object to but will survive. :)

It was a hard decision though - Levenger Cobalt is a gorgeous dark true blue.

Noodler's Blue is my all time favorite among listed. I dunno, but Tanzanite looks violet rather than blue to me :)

I chose Waterman Florida Blue because I like the color, and it dries sufficiently rapidly for a left-handed overwriter (me!) to use.

My second choice would be Sheaffer Slovenian Skrip Blue. The color is almost as nice as the Florida Blue, and I love the fact that it has a pH factor that makes it the least harmful ink available.

Other blues that work for me are Dupont Blue, Sailor Blue, and Montblanc Blue.

If I were to go strictly by color, my favorite blues would be PR Lake Placid Blue, Omas Blue, and Visconti Blue. However, all three dry slowly and smudge when I write with them.

I'm still waiting for the perfect blue ink. It will have three characteristics: royal blue color (with no greenish or chalky tones), dry rapidly, and be waterproof.

Tanzanite is quite violet, as you say. So is Noodler's La couleur royale (even more violet). Noodler's Blue is cyan, just as far from blue but in the other direction. None of them look blue to me. Noodler's style of standard ink (bright, and saturated but not oversaturated) would look stunning in an actual blue ink, if he decided to make one. :)

I voted for Diamine Royal Blue, which I like very much. But, my very favorite is Herbin Bleu Pervenche.

I voted PR Tarzanite! Love the purply color. Thanks for reminding me I still have this color. I haven't used it in a while, but I think I'm going to fill a pen up with this color today.

But if you ask me for "blue", then I like Waterman Florida Blue in a wet pen because it's a classic.

Actually my favourite blue is Diamine Imperial Blue. But you'll have trouble buying it unless you're a member of the Writing Equipment Society :D ! In any case, the first batch is now sold out :( .

I voted for Levenger Cobalt Blue. I really like the dark rich color with a hint toward purple/violet.

Odd...so did I and yet there is only a tally of one. Something's not right.

I also voted for the Levenger's Cobalt. Tally is up to 2.

AAArrgh! I can't make up my mind. Of course I don't have all of the inks named in the poll, but I have enough of them that I should be able to make a decision.

I like Ottoman Azure, but the Noodler's Blue is actually good too. Luxury Blue I'm liking despite my initial dislike of the price. I guess I'll agonize over this for a few days before I add my decisive vote to the poll. :(

I still find PR American Blue to be a really solid, eye popping medium blue shade. I haven't tried that many blues, and there are many that I like (PR Midnight Blues, Quink washable, Waterman Florida Blue all get used with some regularity), but American Blue just has something I like (or perhaps it is what it doesn't have - no purple, no grey, no turquoise, just a nice medium blue)!

Oh, I finally voted for Noodler's Ottoman Azure, but I have to add an asterisk to that choice *

I only use it mixed with waterproof colors. Yeah, yeah, it's a thing I have.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
