Safe Inks For A 146

Generally, Diamine and Private Reserve are my favorite inks. PR is pretty thick though.

I am guessing Diamine or Waterman are pretty safe?

Any other good brands other than MB? No offene, i just don't care for the MB stable of colors.

Many thanks.

When I use non-MB inks in my pens, I use PR Fiesta Red or Diamine Blue-Black. However, I'm not an adventerous soul when it comes to ink, and MB Black-n-Blue or British Racing Green are enough for me.

I've had good results with J. Herbin, as well. I don't think there's too much I wouldn't put in my 146, though - I might not put Baystate Blue in it, but I think it would continue to work fine with that, too - I'm just too chicken to try it.

You'll be fine also with Visconti inks as well, but I think Diamine is fine also. I use J.Herbin or MB inks in my 146. Right now my favorite MB is Blue.

I just filled up my 149 with royal blue ink produced by Graf von Faber-Castell. It's very nice... without the hint of purple I have detected in the Montblanc royal blue.

Other safe inks that I love are distributed by Pelikan and Waterman.

Most of the time I tend to use MB inks such as British Racing green and Blue-Black

I have used Diamine Registrar's ink in my 149 with no problems. I have used Pelikan green & MB Black & MB Blue-Black. I personally think any ink is fine if good hygiene is practiced. I would clean the pen once every 2 fills and at least twice a month.

I've used Noodler's El' Lawrence in my 146 with no ill effects. It's a very thick ink, but the 146 seemed to like it.

waterman ,private lake placid blue and herbin are safe inks

I use and abuse my 149s and 146s with a variety of so-called iron gall inks and inks that are very "thick". If you follow the typical maintenance rule of thumb and flush your pen every few loads, I seriously doubt you will have problems.
