New Danitrio Cumlaude A Little Dry

epo

Recommended Posts

I recently bought a Danitrio cumlaude (medium nib) on the forums which I just loaded with a cartridge of Diamine Teal. However the ink flow seems intermittent and somewhat on the dry side. Do I need to get the nib adjusted or will it get better with time? It has been so long since I had a new pen that I have forgotten if they need to be worn in or not.

I have more than one Cum Laud that I purchased from an FPM member. When the pen arrived, I cleaned it to get any oils that may have been left by manufacture. When it was dry, I filled it with one of my favorite Noodler's inks and had no problem with it. It wasn't too dry at all. I have a few pens (not all are Danis) that just flat don't like Diamine or Herbin's inks, but write beautifully with Noodler's and a couple other ink brands. Pens can be finicky ... I have several. LOL

Actullay, the same thing happened to me with my Cum Laude. Turned out that I had a cap that had an inner cap missing. If this is the case with yours, contact Kevin (winedoc) and he will help you out.

Fascinating, I looked inside the cap and ... nothing. I presume there should be something there? And yes I did get it from winedoc.

Thanks

What does the inner cap look like? I have an extremely dry Cumlaude as well. It won't start without a drop of water on the nib, and goes dry after 5-10 seconds of rest. The cap has something small in the very end, it looks like it's an attachment for the clip, it doesn't come down past where the top of the clip attaches to the pen. Is that the inner cap, or is it missing?

FYI: I opened the tines as much as I feel comfortable. The pen and converter has been very well washed and rinsed. I've used Herbin, Noodler's, Iroshizuki and Aurora Blue inks. Sometimes it looks like air gets trapped in the converter, but not always.

Mine is the same, a small darkish liner which doesn't look as though it would meet the nib holder and provide a seal. Kevin says there should not be a screw visible, and I cannot see a screw.

Did anyone get an answer to this. My Cum Laude also tends to dry overnight, and I am beginning to wonder if I too lack an inner cap.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
