Rotring 800 Modifications...

So, I just received a rotring 800 0.5-mm pencil.

 

I prefer 0.3-mm pencils, in which flavor the 800 is unavailable.

 

I have found hypodermic tubing that should work to retrofit the sleeve to the smaller size but, alas, the braking mechanism is opened up too much and will not stop 0.3-mm lead.

 

Any ideas (other than to leave a perfectly good 0.5-mm pencil alone)? I would prefer the mod to be reversible, although the sleeve mod will likely be semi-permanent.

 

Incidentally, I got the pencil from www.pencils.jp and was very pleased with their responses. I managed to order this late Friday or early Saturday and got it stateside in the mail today. The last time I ordered a pen/pencil from the UK with similar shipping costs it took over a week (I don't believe this was the vendor's fault; probably just a difference in customs or perhaps the price of "standard" mail from the UK was about the same as "express" mail from Japan).
