Conway Stewart Khione

Hello,

I fell compelled to write about the Conway Stewart fountain pen that I received this morning.

It is called a Khione and it is produced in a very limited quantity.

I am the proud owner of #5/10. With the Khione the designer managed to capture ice forever.

The pen is well designed and well balanced.

The writing is simply what to expect from a Conway Stewart: Simply perfect pleasure.

Congratulations to Niklas Dahl and Conway Stewart for producing such a wonderful pen.

I intend to get one of each of their upcoming fountain pen.

Life is a tapestry best defined with a quill

Pray the day Day to labour

Pray at night Frights to send away

Monks to save my soul Noble seventeen to keep me safe

I think there's 50 too...but still a limited series nevertheless. Mine's arrived at the post office, I can't wait to pick it up and see it in person!

I've just ordered mine. It's white outside as we've had heavy falls of snow and it's nearly Christmas, so what could be more appropriate than an ice white Khione...?

Pictures, finally some pictures.

There are still some pens left if you are interested.

Kind regards

Oooh, Niklas that's stunning. The second photo in particular really doesn't make it look very icy. Many congratulations on commissioning such a beautiful pen from CS as your first limited edition. You've set a very high standard to follow there.

I noticed this post 10 minutes ago, immediately fell in love with the pen after seeing its pictures, and before I can even stop to think my fingers automatically clicked on the "Pay now" icon on Paypal... there goes €240 :gaah: and all I can do now is sit back and wait for this beauty to turn up at my house :cloud9:

So much for my resolve to NOT buy any more pens till the coming year... thanks to the wonders of the internet, or more specifically, FPN :headsmack:

And of course, I can only dream of winter here in tropical Malaysia :bunny01:... where the weather is dry, or wet (it's currently wet) and consistently hot :P

# Here's hoping that the order for the Omas Society Limited Edition FP would not be processed until 2011. Otherwise another €230 flies out... and I'll start 2011 broke! :bonk:  :roflmho:

  • 2 weeks later...

My first post on the forum as a whole, and I haven't finished my profile, but as soon as I saw this pen I had to order one  Absolutely gorgeous!

My Khione arrived on the 23rd December but no one was home due to the recent holidays, so I only managed to collect it this afternoon :P . Just 10 days from Sweden to Malaysia using registered mail, during these year end festivities - that was very quick

Oh boy... it sure is more beautiful than that portrayed in the pictures :cloud9: .

Only weird thing is the feed - it looks disproportionately tiny compared to the nib :ltcapd:

Now what ink shall I fill this pen with? Hmmm....:hmm1:

I believe the Khione, Goddess of Snow, has 50 pens. Its on NPI (nordic pen imports) site...

I'm confused now... is the Khione produced in 50 pieces, or is it just only 10? Or is it 13? :hmm1: My LE number, as engraved on the pen, is 10/13 - hence the confusion :bonk:

Would anyone like to enlighten me on this issue?

# My order for the Omas Society Limited Edition FP was charged on the same day I ordered the Khione, with the pen itself (# 014/600) arriving within the week :cloud9: . Now I'm truly broke heading into 2011 :gaah:

Hi all.

Here is some info about the pen, there is 50 pens made, the first number, 10, is the year and the second number is the individual number of your pen. Who knows, maybe we will see a new pen in 2011??

Just a few pens left now if you are interested.

Kind regards

Niklas Dhl

Seems like it's proving to be a popular choice. Can anyone give dimensions of the pen?

The Khione is based on the Coronet.

The dimensions are as follows (obtained from NPI's site) :

Closed: 133.5 mm - Posted 163 mm

Barrel incl nib 125 mm - Cap 56.5 mm

Barrel Diam 13.3 mm - Cap Diam 15.5 mm

Weight 28 gms

And oh... the resin material is known as "Arctic Ice" :vbg:

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
