Pelikan Pen Case

Just as a warning to those of you here thinking about getting a Pelikan made pen case: watch out!

Mine just arrived today.

Well made and all that, but impossible to use….Ordered the two pen version, and I can only get one pen into it, even though there is a so-called 'divider' inside for 2 pens.

Anyway, the divider between the pens is not fixed, so putting a pen in makes the divider move back and forth; even if you could put 2 pens in there, they could easily scratch each other if you don't fiddle with it first.

I checked this double Pelikan case with a Montblanc single pen case for another pen, and was not surprised to find it is exactly the same width !!!!

It's a real pity they didn't do a better job.

Anyway, for one Pelikan pen, this 'double' pen case will work fine..

Ciao tutti,

Tadeyev

I wonder if I would be able to put M800, M600 and M400 in their 3 pen case. :hmm1:

My three pen Pelikan is holding three M8XX size pens including one Toledo. They all fit very well.

What size pen are you trying to put in yours? ? ?

Are you sure you got an authentic PELIKAN Case?

I have the three-pen case version. It can easily hold my MB 149, my MB Legrand BP and my MB 161 RB. That's an oversize pen, a big ballpoint and a standard rollerball without rubbing each other and with plenty of room.

Here's a photo of said pen case holding my Lamy Al-Star, my MB 149 and my MB-144.

There's a review in spanish with a lot of photos in my blog. The address is in my signature.

Carlos, thanks for the photo of 3 pen case

It should hold M800/600/400 without any problem.

I'm pretty sure it will hold them nicely. After some time carrying my pens on it, I started placing the smaller pen in the middle slot. That way is faster for me to grab the big ones on each side or the small one from the middle.

I use my Pelikan brand two-pen case for two M800 pens every day for work. It is small and tight, but works well and you get used to rotating the clip to the inside corner of the case to get the pen in without scratching the other pen. It's not ideal, and I probably would not buy it again. However, it occupies less space than other pen cases with more separation.

I received the two pen case as a complimentary gift for an online purchase last year. I usually keep my M600 and M800 in it. It's a tight fit, but I have no complaints. And the price was good!

I don't know if 2 M1000s would fit, however.

I'm surprised about the two-pen case of the OP, as I just whipped out my Pelikan 3-pen case and into it swapped a Laban Mento (one heck of a big pen), a full-size Sailor 1911 and a Lamy Al-Star (whose girth is quite substantial), and although a bit snug they fit fine. I can see, however, that 2 oversize pens would mean only a small third would fit.

I do agree it would be better if the dividers were fixed, provided flexible enough to accommodate varying pen sizes.

My Pelikan two pen case will comfortably accommodate 2 x M600s. Best technique is to clip them to the side walls of the case - more secure and keeps the clips from scratching anything.

I think the 600's will be OK there, but for me, 2 Pelikan LE's (in 800 size) are really not comfortable in there…Mostly in the width.

Will I need the 3 pen case for that.

Again: the Pelikan 2 pen case is the exact same width as a single MB case. Whatever way you view it, it's skimpy in my view ;-)

Ciao tutti

Have you tried clipping them to the outside of the case as I suggested? That way the clips will not be taking up any room inside the case. They'll also be more secure and better-protected.

I do that with other (non-Pelikan) leather case and works great.

I have the three pen case, and it will hold three M600's or three M800's with no problem. You haven't said what pens you are trying to get into a two pen case. Pens larger than the M800's will probably not fit. But I don't think "skimpy" is an accurate description for the Pelikan cases. I find them to be just what I want, and don't want bigger. If the MB cases are your fancy, buy one.

I have Pelikan cases in one, two and three pen varieties. All of them take my M800 size pens, including a Toledo M900 with no problems at all. Three M800s in the three pen case fit fine and I have never had any scratching of the pens in the cases.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
