Issue With My Montblanc Starwalker

Hi all. My girlfriend gave me a Montblanc Starwalker as a graduation present. I think the pen is beautiful and performs amazingly. But I believe that I have a small issue with it. The cap seems to be loose. By this I mean that the top part, which holds the acrylic logo and the metallic part from the cap seem to be getting looser from the rest of the cap. Additionally, I have noticed, since the pen that I have is the one with the grid design, that when I close the cap the grids from the cap do not fit with the grids from the body of the pen. I have not drop the pen at all. I actually take more care of it than I do of myself haha. I wish someone can help me with this.

hi,

are you sure that this pen is a original montblanc pen?

the starwalker is often faked.

if it is a real piece, find a montblanc centre en let them take look at it, they can also repair the pen.

good luck

Pardon me, but my bet is that the pen is not the real one. Montblanc has stringent quality controls and it's unlikely that a brand new pen would have this kind of problem. Try to have this checked in an authorized MB dealer just to give you some peace of mind.

hahahaahha. thanks guys. it is actually not a fake pen, i was present in a montblanc dealer with my gf when she bought it. i took it to a MB dealer as u guys suggested. they said that the damage on the clip and the acrylic top may be due to the fact that sometimes i borrow the pen to someone who is not familiar with the pen and how the twist off cap works and in an attempt to take the cap off they force it. the people at MB fixed it and my pen is working fine now haha. thanks to everyone.

Spoke to a colleague at work today and they are experiencing the exact same issue as you are. There's is a ballpoint, not that that should make a lot of difference.

My advise to him was to take it to MB boutique along with the warrenty card (showing when you bought it) and get them to send it off to be repaired.

Today my colleague took his Starwalker back to the official MB seller he bought it from. The warrenty card was incorrectly filled out but after explaining their error to them they have stated that it is a minor issue can will be fixed FOC. He was told that it will be 3 to 4 weeks and if it were chargeable then it would cost about £30 to rectify.

He was happy that I told him to send it back to the supplier. He hadn't thought of this. Instead he'd coved the top in glue to try and fix it himself. Obviously I got him to remove glue before taking it in.

I might even lend him my Starwalker whilst his is repaired as I don't use it.

A question for the board. Would this be considered a problem with this pen? When I bought mine a month ago or so, the grid lines lined up. Now they do not...

:bonk: My suggestion is never lend it to someone who don't know how to use it or treat it as a BIC.

I don't see a smiley face here so I guess a reply is in order. Based on my experience with MB, their quality controls are a bit lax these days - got a pen which did not function properly from day one and after two repairs it stopped writing all together. And my pen is definetly not a fake :(

Bit of a generalisation. None of mine have experienced any issues. Things go wrong occasionally, that is a fact of life.

In regards to my colleagues though who I have reported in this thread as having issues. MB resolved the issue fully by replacing the pen altogether. Another success for their customer service.

Really though given the price you pay they should get it right first time. I recently dismantled an uninked Jules Verne, it would never have written the amount of "grease" that was on the feed and nib. Quality production manufacturing procedures were formalized, in this country, along the lines of those used in bomb making in the second world war, BS5750, later ISO 90001 and 9002? to ensure right first time.

"I bought a Ferrari, it stalled and wouldn't start after 10 miles, but next day they gave me a new one" Nope, I wouldn't be too happy either ?

You can get them to line up again by cleaning the thread and the place where cap and body meet.

Help? Why am I buying so many fountain pens?

Only if it bothers you... It would bother me, but to some it may not...
