The Writing Desk (uk)

Hi,

Does anyone know why The Writing Desk no longer seems to stock Aurora ink? Or why there seems to be a much less diverse selection of Rhodia and Clairfontaine notebooks? It's such a shame! As far as I know there are no other suppliers of such products in the UK...

Thanks!

I thought they were stocking more Rhodia and Clairefontaine these days.

They are very responsive and when I requested a Clairefontaine A5 French ruled, they got 12 in and I purchased 2 within a few weeks. Tell them what you want.

I tend to buy all my paper and ink form them these days and should have a deli eery tomorrow :)

A fair amount of ink seems to be temporarily out of stock as well.

I assume that stocks will eventually be replenished.

In the meantime, I ordered some missing ink from missing pen in Germany.

Aurora's distribution in the UK is, shall we say, flaky. Never mind about the ink - just try and buy a pen!

Dear Angeldust,

We announced in our March e-newsletter that we would be cutting back on our paper and notebook ranges. There were a few reasons for this but the main one is warehouse space that we need for our bottled ink ranges. However, as ImolaS3 wrote above (and, BTW, thank you for your repeat custom), we are happy to order in any Clairefontaine or Rhodia product for a customer but there will usually be minimum order requirements. If there is anything in particular that you would like, please e-mail with your requirements (please don't use the PM system).

Please note that we have introduced new Clairefontaine and Rhodia products this year, for example the Clairefontaine Roadbook and Rhodia WebNoteBook with 90gsm paper.

As for Aurora, encremental has hit the nail on the head. There is currently no official distribution for Aurora products in the UK. The supply had been flaky for the past couple of years and we could never keep enough Aurora ink in stock to satisfy demand. When we did receive a delivery it was as if the whole fountain pen using world was watching our web site so we would sell out in a matter of days. We have, of course, been in discussion with Aurora directly but it is early days yet. Therefore, reluctantly, we took the decision to remove Aurora blue and black bottled ink from our website as we simply don't know when we will next have any.

If Simon Gray at the Battersea Pen Home has some then grab it while you can.

Best regards,

Martin and Anna

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
