Mont Blanc Meisterstuck Signum Doue

I have a rather odd question on this pen (Model #08579)that I'm hoping one of you experts can help me with - and it deals specifically with the 3 rings at the center of the pen - and in particular the 2 that flank the Mont blanc name embossed in the center ring.

I purchased the roller ball version of this pen several years ago and there is NO distinction in the color tone in the rings in the neddle of the pen - i.e. they all blend together and appear as a single tone color.

This past weekend I purchased the ballpoint version and the center rings that flank the Montblanc labeled center ring are a different "shade" - i.e. they appear a bit darker/duller than the insignia ring.

Does anyone know if Montblanc changed their design in recent years and the darker rings are now standard or might I have a fluke pen that somehow wasn't pickup up by quality control?

Not that the ball point looks any less appealing mind you - it's just different and so maybe it speaks to a design change - just curious.

The pen is Model # 08579 (with the patterned barrel)and the darker rings can be seen on the official Montblanc website....

Thanks in advance for your reply.

Regards,

Barry

Hi Barry,

I own the Doue Stainless steel, not the Signum, and the rings blend in as you described. Looking at the MB website the Doue Signum and Stainless Steel caps visually appear to have the same cap, but the following is how MB describes them.

Doue Signum: "platinum-plated cap inlaid with Montblanc emblem, platinum-plated clip and rings"

Doue Stainless Steel: "platinum-plated clip and stainless steel rings"

Sounds like you received the stainless steel Doue cap, not the Doue Signum cap with platinum rings.
