I recently acquired an MB 149 with OBB nib from someone. It has Germany, rather than West Germany....and the serial number GP1034171 on the clip band. It has the striped ink window...Sorry I dont have my camera with me. Thanks

I was trying to do the same thing with mine. I took it to my local MB agent and they said it was recent but that was about all they could say as apparently the 149 is glacial in it's changes (no bad thing as far as I am concerned!)

All the best.

Ian

What kind/style of ink feed does it have?

Hard times don't last, but hard people do.

Thank a Veteran.

Looks to be incredibly dark black (ebonite?) and very deep. One Dip of the nib/feed allowed me to write two A4 pages! Also the last 2 fins (combs/teeth) are shorter than the rest (ie the ones closest to the section). Piston is brass/metal....Hope this helps....Or if there specific charactersitics I should look for, pls guide me and I will revert!! Cheers, Rajeshg

I emailed MB customer service with my serial number and they were able to give me a month of production, so you might be able to do the same.

Are there any issues with old MB149's versus new ones? Assuming one 20 years old was kept in good shape, had one owner, stored in a box, etc, would it be any worst for wear compared to a new one? Were there any huge problems throughout the years, like the exploding gastank of the Pinto, huge, that would make certain years more or less desirable?
