Moved to Mont Blanc forum, as this question will get better exposure there.

I do not know about Zurich (other than that it's a wonderful city which I love to visit), but in Paris, there are quite a few places to acquire MBs. I do not know the prices at all.

The big department store BHV (metro station "Hotel de ville" - and while there, step outside to look at the impressive building that is the majorality of Paris) has, on their 1st floor (take the central stairs up, it's right in front of you) a large pen-department with Waterman, Parker GvFC, Pilot, St. Dupont, MB, ..... also, loads of Herbin ink and stationary.

The venerable Mora Stylos also has Montblanc pens, as does Opera Stylos, the latter of which a stones-throw from the impressive historic Opera Garnier of Paris. On-line, the latter doesn't advertise Montblanc stock, however I saw a handful of MBs in Opera Stylos last time I was there a few days ago. Anyways, this is not far from Galeries Lafayette, another department store which in their "main building" on the 4th or 5th floor (IIRC, but check the store dictionary) has a fountain pen / stationary section, rather well equipped too.....

I'm sorry, I am not that much of an MB fan, so I do not remember prices, nor know if they're MRSP or not -- but check them out.

I don't want to comment on cost but I'd imagine they'd be the same price at both locations.

The URL is from MB's site, it will let you locate the boutiques in both cities.

I would suspect that you are right; certainly, the two department stores I indicated in the previous post of mine are "the same group" and almost universally identically priced. Knowing the MB "policy" regarding pricing, then yeah, I would not expect any variance really....

Dear All,

Firstly thanks for moving my article to the MB forum...

Thanks for all your comments, I would surly check the stores...however, it would ave been helpful, if I had know the approx. price in advance to make a decision....

Voop: Could you please give me your inputs as to why you donot prefer MB...as any comment would help for my decision...

Sure thing.....the classic MB pens do simply not "feel right" in my hands. I can't really explain it, but to me a FP has to feel like "the thing that's always been missing from my hand" when holding it, and I just didn't get that feeling from the classic MBs I've tried. I can't really qualify it beyond that; i recognize that they have great nibs and are appreciated by many, but those I tried (the 14x series) didn't "feel right" to me. I tried a Starwalker a while back, and for strange reasons that pen feels better in my hands (although I am still not sold on their looks.....we'll see eventually) than the 14x.

As always, if you get a pen for the purpose of writing with it, try it beforehand -- try it well, and decide based on how it feels, not on how some think it should feel ;)

Hi Voop,

Many thanks for your inputs...

I completely agree with you on the feel of FP, as they are almost an extension to an individual than just a commodity...

I was fearing, you would comment on their fragile composition, as I see a lot of MB users complaining.

I would make a few phone calls and get price quotes.

Don't worry MB pens are not that fragile.

I can very strongly recommend Mora Stylos in Paris as wonderful people and a joy to work with.

No, I have no first-hand experience as to fragility (or not) of MBs to report; others are certainly better positioned to pronounce themselves on this subject.

Andre Mora is absolutely the very best pen dealer in Paris. You may find a used 149 or two in his shop if you are lucky. He is closed for part of the summer, so try to make contact in advance of your trip. M. Mora also attends major US pen shows and has some wonderful pens rarely seen in North America. Bon voyage.

Stylos Wagram near the l'Arc de Triomphe is also excellent with a large range of Mont Blanc. It is well worth a visit in Paris.

Mora Stylos is a wonderful store as well. Older, more refined and with consignment and vintage pens as well.

Well, yes - but the prices are (likely due to the postal address) on the high side of things. Of course MBs may sell at MSRP anyways (I do not know?) so it may not matter.

Yep - and he has PR ink and is a gentleman in all ways.

Agreed that Stylos Wagram was on the higher side for most things, though they had 30% off Omas while I was there, which was very nice and plenty in Older style.
