Beautiful is right. Awesome. I love the shape.

1 Kultur, medium nib

1 Hemisphere, dark green, medium nib

1 Forum, in burgundy and blue, fine nib (an old one, it's a gift)

All are lovely writers.

I bought a few weeks ago a Waterman Perspective (Obsession Blue) in Extra Fine.

I was drawn to it because of how balanced it look : it was just the right amount of bling while still fitting at my office job.

I think it is now the pen I use the most : it glides so smoothly and the line width is exactly what I wanted : a little wider than what I've witnessed with Pilot, without being too spreaded out.

Love at first sight.

I picked up a black 32v today, and I'll be using it tomorrow. I'm pretty sure it's not the correct feed, but it has what feels like a really nice Ideal Green nib.

After today's purchase of a stainless with gold trim c/f, I now have 4.

The other 3

Red marble Laureat M

Gun metal Supermaster M

Green mottled Centurion M

I haven't gone "really" vintage yet, but it's only a matter of time.

I purchased a Carène Deluxe Broad on Thursday ... I love the look of the barrel and the cap!

My daily writers are two Carènes. A lilac with a wonderful medium nib and a charcoal grey with a fine nib.

My third Waterman is a lilac Concord with wonderful stubby medium nib.

One of my favorites is an Italian (?) made 1930s Waterman #42 Safety that has a chased gold filled cap and body. The flex nib is splendid, superb. I was truly lucky to find this pen for a very reasonable price.

Hi all,

Looking at buying my first Waterman after being a loyal Mont Blanc user and wondered what model this is?

some come with a cap and barrel...best to get one of those.

I have no idea what I have. Well, yes, I now have SOME idea. Of the currently produced models I've been able to find, they most resemble the Phileas. But I got them at a pen show as a total newbie and did not even think to ask. One was from Joel (Hamilton???), green, $35, and the other, red, from Susan Wirth with a custom stub for $100. Neither is marbled, the colors are solid opaque with black accents and gold colored trim.

The green one just suffered a converter meltdown. The converer cracked where the plastic meets the metal on the "twisty" side. What a mess. I put a short international cart on it, so far so ggod.

My father in-law passed a couple of years ago, last week we went through some old boxes and we found a Waterman Expert II, this is something that I will take good care of and use on a regular basis, now I need to find a fine or xtra fine nib for it because the medium is too wet and broad for my linking. I love the size and weight of the pen.

You might contact our member Dutchpen to see if he has some sections left in your preferred size.

I've just acquired my first Waterman - an Expert II, and I like it a lot. It has a medium nib, and it's the smoothest one I have.

Hi Alan,

Actually, that was my first Waterman as well! An Expert II, black lacquer with a medium nib.

I agree, it's a very smooth write. The flow is very nice. The weight and the size is just right for me.

I have a few more Waterman pens, but that particular one has a special place in my collection.

Congratulations on your fine acquisition!

I also have an Expert II, black gloss, gold trim and medium nib.

It has a special place in my collection as it was a present from my wife.

Fortuitously it is an excellent, predictable and reliable writer.

The only other Waterman I have is a red "Apostrophe" which is one half of a set (with a matching ballpoint) I picked up at a bargain price on Ebay. It has a medium nib rather than the more usual fine found in such sets and is a decent writer ... though nowhere near as nice as the Expert II

Thanks folks.

I certainly agree the Expert II has a very nice shape, weight and balance. Mine is "satin silver" with black trim (though some of the lacquer finishes I've seen look beautiful). Another thing I really like is the way the cap clicks on when you post it - as well as clicking on when capped and sealing so well it writes first time every time.

I currently have it inked with Diamine Bilberry, which seems to suit the feed and the nib really well.

I thank my friend who got one first and told me how good it is - and I suspect this will not be my last Waterman pen :-)

Dipping my toes into vintage pens with waterman-- I got a 0852 1/2 v, with waterman ideal new york (#2?) nib. I just love the small size and lightness of this little fellow, and i'm amazed it survived to the next millenia but unfortunately it didn't arrive in great condition (tines misaligned, and something is rattling inside the pen, is that supposed to happen?) and isn't really a pleasant writer as-is.

still undecided if i should send it out to be restored or put it up for sale. for my first vintage pen this process seems rather intimidating. thoughts anyone?

Assuming you got a "good price" because you bought the pen "as is", my opinion is to get the pen restored.

Actually, even if you overpaid for it. The pen most likely can be restored.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
