Hi,

Could any of you take a look at this pen, and let me know if it is a fake or genuine Mont Blanc.

Thank you.

Mont Blanc

I think it is real. Not particularly nice condition. The nib appears to be a left foot oblique, so suitable for a left handed writer.

Thank you.

I thought a left foot oblique was for a right handed person?

Is the pen worth buying at that price and condition?

I do not have any oblique nibs, myself, but my brother who is a lefty uses a left foot oblique, because he is an overwriter and crabs his hand inwards. A right hander using one will have the longer part of the nib towards the top and right of the page as they write, so could make nicely shaped characters, with nice line variation, with it. How suitable these oblique nibs are depends entirely how you hold your pen. I should have been more specific, because not all lefties are crabby overwriters.

As to value, it depends how much you want something. I do not want it, so it is not of value to me. The condition is not spectacular for resale.

Oblique nibs are often quite sought after and many lefties (including me) get on very nicely with left obliques.

Yes, I'd say genuine.

Personally, I don't mind the scuffed condition, but I do wonder about the cap and barrel match - shouldn't the ink window be covered by the cap when the pen is capped?

Very nice to know I can come here and get info. I just bid on one last week and eBay cancelled the auction "to protect the buyers" not sure what really happened but they stepped in and cancelled the transaction and told me to file a claim if I had already paid (I didnt even win the auction). I ahve been using ebay for many years and have never had any problems. Of course I am new to fountain pens! I have been collecting chess sets for many years but just recently started with fountain pens!

Me neither.

I do not think the cap has been placed fully onto the barrel in the picture.

There is a good chance you can thank hari or mohan or one of the others in here that watches these auctions and reports them to ebay, or in some cases contacts the seller and lets them know we are on to them. In some cases the seller has been genuinely mislead and they are grateful for being informed about it. Sometimes the fraud is egregious. I am really glad that you were protected from buying a pig in a poke.

Hi Guys

I am new to the forum and was wondering if anyone could venture an opinion as to whether these two pens are real or fake. Any views on price would also be appreciated.

Hey all!

Just would like some advice on this baby.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150500331947&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_500wt_1156

No papers or box, so not sure if that is the reason why the bidding is so low, also if someone can comment on the condition of the pen as seen from the pics as well? I'm new to all this! :)

It is genuine, the auction is still on and the final bids might be placed just before the auction ends. Condition seems OK, not mint. Some thing on the threads in pic 7.

In case you wish to write to me, pls use ONLY email by clicking here. I do not check PMs. Thank you.

Bids are low, as you suggest there are probably alot of automatic bids (i.e., snipes) waiting for the lat few seconds to go off.

The auction ended at a fair price. Not a bargain bargain but a good price. I purchased an exact silver boheme a few months for a buy it now of 300 euros no box or papers

Hi

Does this pen look to be genuine?

Is there any way of telling if it is a Classique or Le Grand from the photos or do I need to ask the vendor?

Thanks in anticipation.

Can't say, photos are too vague for me.

It is the Classique.

This one is looking a bit suspect? At first I got excited then I saw the listing but now I am unsure. Listing says there is a serial number but no papers to authenticate.

The jewel on the clip is that the right colour for this pen - shouldnt it be Citrine? Shouldnt the cap and trims be Gold Plated rather than silver. Did Mont Blanc bring a different Brown Boheme ballpoint which was not part of the Jewels range?

I have several of the Boheme Jewels range - Topaz, Amethyst and the red but never seen the Citrine in person or this variation . When I purchased the Jewels range the pen - ball point or FP came with a matching colour Leather Boheme sized case.

Anyway what do you think?

That one looks suspect to me, too. All of the Jewels line has that crossed stitching in the line with the clip for starters. The stone in this one doesn't look like a citrine to me, and it doesn't look like a marquise cut stone from the ebay pictures. And you are right that it should be gold rather than white metal plating for the citrine model. Montblanc still has the pictures of the Boheme jewels on the website ...for comparison purposes.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
