Anyone want to give me your thoughts on this pen. Box looks good, seems legit, but would like to have additional eyes on it. Thanks.

I have a fake Boheme with red plastic "jewel". It seems to try to be a clone of the medium sized Boheme that can take a piston filler accessory (no cool retractable nib but at least its refillable).

Nib is a nail but as a writing tool, I guess have no complaints haha (no fear of it getting stolen or lost!)

It is a rollerball...but I agree...I need a pic of that as well. I have asked for additional pix and supposed to get those tonight. We will see.

I would be surprised if there is fake boheme. Who knows ...

Lots of them out there.

Are the fake using the same retractable system ?

I would like to add a bohem to my collection but I will have to keep my eyes open to get a genuine one.

I'm not familiar with fake Bohemes like this one. I'm curious, how can you tell it's a fake aside from the fake converter? I know that the nib doesn't retract, but there was a Boheme made without a retractable nib, in a slightly larger size than the retractable ones. I have never seen the larger Boheme disassembled to reveal the converter.

Thoughts on the price?

BIN price is too high. Minimum bid is good. You have to figure in the risk of additional repair expense for pens you cannot examine before you buy.

Yes you are very correct. I guess i'll find out ... I just bought it  Hopefully it won't need too much TLC. I picked up another MB149 on ebay from a private seller and it turned out to be a dream so maybe my past experiences are blinding me. Oh well, either this is going to be a good experience or a costly one ()

Good price for the pen if it doesn't need repairing. Let us know how it writes when you get it.

Reading through this thread would I be right in thinking that looking at the quality of the nib engraving would be the best way of potentially identifying a fake?

Am seriously thinking of making a 146 my next purchase and the number of counterfeit MB's is a real mine field!! :glare:

All the best

Nick

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.
    • Ceilidh
Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
