New Laban Pen?

KeweenawArchive

Recommended Posts

Greetings all, and I hope you're having a good day.

I came across a review of a new Laban pen in the April 2010 Pen World. They didn't list a name, though a retail price of around $150. It has an orange and yellow hex pattern on it. For the life of me I can't find a photo of it, and I can't get my scanner to do anything useful! Bah!

Any word on what this might be? I kind of want one.

I thought it looked OK until I saw the metal section..... Not for me....

Is this any better? :D

It leaves something to be desired ...

Of course, I like the Monteverde Artista Candy Stripe pen, so I have a thing for a louder pen, I suppose. Can I ask what about the aesthetics you don't like?

I have several Laban pens, but they are entirely either Mento or Bonito models, both of which are large, comfortable (to me) pens. I have a combination of factory steel and gold nibs, and all my Labans write very well. Overall, I am quite satisfied with their fit, finish and quality. I was not aware of this new model. I am curious to find out its name. Still, I will pass on this one. The style just is not me, and the metal section is a deal breaker. But, for those who like it, I assume it will be a good pen that will serve them well.

The only Laban I own is a Kaiser, which, I believe, make the Mento look like a Vacumatic Demi size. . It is not that I don't like the Laban I Have, or don't like any of the other offerings; it is just that my interests tend to lie elsewhere. That is why there are more than 2 or 3 pen manufacturers. I am thankful for the variety, even if each model is not my favorite -- it likely is someone elses, and I have no room to criticize.

The Kaiser writes quite well also, and as mentioned, is huge. It is also quite strikingly handsome, to my eyes.

I hope the OP can find one like s/he desires, at an affordable price. I am not personally interested, but find no fault in anyone for being so.

I am wondering. Could this pen be part of Laban's "Free Spirit Collection?"

I was thinking that perhaps it was a turnover of that collection, given how much they have in common, but I thought it odd that there was no name in the magazine and no sign of it anywhere online. Thanks for the suggestion!

I was just remarking on the absence of a section.
