Yes, the shrooms (lol) are 100% chiku rin. The moss/ grass is not, it's a mixture of chiku rin from the linework plus Sailor miruai, tokiwa matsu and rikyu cha.

The Background wash is: Iroshizuku Chiku rin, yuu yake, Waterman tender purple, absolute brown and Seitz-Kreuznach Cognac. It took me about one hour until I had the saturation, I wanted.

Considering chiku rin, I'm with you, it's not the most exciting colour for correspondence, plus it shows feathering pretty easily. But for sketching it's really nice (except the tendency to feather). I used quite some strokes forr hatching the mushrooms, layering the ink in some parts several times.

The saturated background contrasts the green nicely and makes it pop even more.

Initially, I planned the mushrooms in Tokiwa matsu with my parker Duofold, but I chose the Delta Dolcevita for the task, because I was sketching in the garden and had to tuck away my stuff at any given moment to chase after the kids, if needed, lol.

Luckily, I got the Delta very cheap, so I went with it. However, it would've been a crying shame if something had happened to the Delta, because it matches nicely with the chiku rin, being a delta dolcevita federico media bamboo (chiku rin = bamboo wood) and the federico media seems currently out of production at Marte Modena it seems...?

Oh, the colours too !

This definitely is.

I love this one flummoxed, the yellowish Moleskine sketchbook paper makes it look properly vintage.

Beautifully done as usual!

Thank you everyone! I don't understand why people complain about Moleskine though, I've only had a good experience with them. I also love the cream colour that they come in.

Aah~ thank you! Yes the ink is really wonderful especially on toned paper. Gives it an aged look.

It's funny -- I didn't really care for the color of Lie de Thé when I tried it. But on the cream paper, it takes on a whole new character.

Plus, I love the drawing. It wouldn't have occurred to me to use a fude nib for anything other than writing.

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Really? I bought two fude nib pens for the sole purpose of drawing with them. I can't imagine using them just to write with. Too broad, it fills in all my letters. Oh, and thank you. I'm happy you like it. v wv

This looks beautiful, I've been meaning to try a fude nib for drawing but have been putting it off since I have to get it shipped it from outside the country. The brown on the cream paper really works for me.

Thanks! ;w; I had mine shipped from China and it took about a month to get to me, but free shipping and the pens work just fine so no complaints here. The thing that really surprised me about using the Confucius was how quickly it would eat up ink. I was already warned by Teoh who did some great reviews for fude nib pens, but I didn't expect to have to refill it THAT fast. They are very fun to use though and I hope you enjoy yours when it comes. Oh, and when it does, make sure to post any art you make with it here.

I also ordred this Confucious pen and almost forgot about it because it's taking a long time to get here (also from China). But I'm not doubting it will, seller had nothing but excellent reviews. But this just reminded me about it and I'm excited for it to get here. You have me wondering about the ink though. I didn't really think about that aspect of it. Thanks for sharing your drawing - very nice ;)

Oh cool! Tell me what you think of it when it arrives in the mail. I tend to just leave it on my desk as it is too big and heavy for me to carry around as part of my EDC, but it's a real pleasure to draw with. I bought some platinum carbon ink to use with it after I finish the Lie de The in it. I want to watercolor over my lines.

  • 3 weeks later...

I made a cup of tea today and fell in love with the pattern the leaves made in the cup.

http://www.taskyprianou.com/fpn_tea_leaves_actual.jpg

Thought I'd try to "copy" them - no chance. But I did enjoy the journey.
Creating random shapes and keeping them random is not something my brain was very good at but an exercise I will visit again . . .

Pen: Lamy Ratio, self ground thin stub nib.
Ink: A big jar of failed mixes I've labelled Paul Madonna.

Your artist in residence does great work!

Have not doing much fountain pen sketches lately, since I'm currently working on a larger piece.

This is a small illustration for a letter and I used my TWSBI Eco (EF) with Waterman absolute brown, my Kaweco Sport Cognac (F) with Platinum leaf green - should stop mixing green with skintones and Akashiya sai watercolour brushpens.

Ups, forgot the signo uni-ball in cream white and the Tombow caligrapy pen.

東京スカイライン ・ Wash of Sailor oku yama, doyou, Waterman absolute brown, tender purple, Seitz-Kreuznach Cognac, Pilot Iroshizuku yuu yake and Pelikan Edelstein sapphire - I like this one only for washes.

Fountain pen used: Bexley Prometheus in raspberry and black ebonite (not pictured) in F with Sailor oku yama.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
