Lamy Studio Stainless is one, as well as the Lamy CP1. Also, if you want to get a bit more high-end, try Porsche Design.

The sword is mightier than the pen. However, swords are now obsolete whereas pens are not.

Hi Hardyb, Thanks for the links, i quite like a few of the officina pens but the Michaels have a bit too much going on for me, I like a fairly minimalist design.

Hi dracodoc, I do like LAMY, i have a safari at the moment, its a nice looking pen.

The pelikan technixx is quite nice though all of them are a bit too 'polished' for my tastes, I still haven't managed to come across anything like the 600 which is just a piece of hexagonal bar, it just screams simplicity to me! also i suppose its quite old so i like that aspect of it, it comes from the period of isoographs etc. I love drafting pens and pencils. The rotring 600 in my opinion is the only technical looking fountain pen i have seen to date! I'm not saying i don't like other designs, because i do (Pelikan have some lovely designs) however im a bit of a tech nerd. . .

You might also look at the Faber-Castell Mondoro. It has the faceted design of the Rotring 600. You can get the body in black or white, but the cap is silver. I haven't seen one or used one, but there are some nice pictures in this thread.

Not a fan of the elite, but the MYU, that is nice! same sort of price as a rotring 600, the faber-castell mondoro is also quite nice, i wonder how the resin feels? Thanks for the recomendations :)

The spring issue of Stylus magazine gives a positive review of the Mondoro. One of the things they say is "The jet black barrel has a highly polished plastic that looks as good as it feels."

I understand why people still love those old Rotring 600 series pens and pencils - they had a lot of heft to them and felt really well built.

These pens had similar appeal for me:

Chris Thompson's stainless steel Duofold replica - about 100 grams, machined from a solid rod of stainless. Chris' work is beautiful, and it's a great writer with new Centennial nib.

Inkling Bomapen D6 - 100+ grams of solid tungsten, very precise fit and finish, indestructible. Mine is polished rather than tungsten carbide coated as Mike used on most of these. (. . . a ballpoint - sorry). Might be tough to find, as I think they're sold out.

CE Levi "Colossus" FP, mine is around 130 grams, no clip, no exterior adornments, just looks like a polished solid rod of brass. Writes beautifully with reclaimed Shaeffer Lifetime nib.

All of these are solid metal and very heavy by most standards. I like the sense of solid, precise machine work they convey. The cap threads on the Colossus work smoothly, but have no play or slop at all. They're hand lapped for a perfect fit.

The Lamy 2000 is mostly makrolon (glass-fiber-reinforced polycarbonate), but it's a very clean Bauhaus design that might appeal to you.

The Dufold replica and CE Levi "colossus" are quite nice, so is the Lamy 2000.

The inkling is really nice, i don't really like 'fat' pens I prefer sleeker ones!

still they show some beautiful craftsmenship. Thanks for the recomendations!
