If you are travelling by plain, have a look at the Montblanc boutique at the airport. I am buying inks there every now and then and the sales people are very friendly.

Widest range of pens will have the Galeria Kaufhof at the Zeil (Frankfurts main shopping street). Inks are limited to school kids needs (Lamy, Pelikan, Waterman or Parker, blue and black mainly).

Papier-Krämer is nearby.

Have been there a few weeks ago. Compared to the Kaufhof their range of pens is limited. They do stock MB inks too. I am not very enthusiastic about their service but this might be my personal perception. At least it is worth a visit.

My favourite pen shop has closed dowm some time ago. :crybaby:

If it's the same place I went (department store in the center), Galeria Kaufhof is great--major selection of Lamys. There's also a spendy pen speciality store close by, presumably Montblanc will have it listed on their site.

Galeria Kaufhaus

They might still have the Pelikan 605 (E-99) for sale, or a left over Yellow 200 (E39) from last years sale.

I got a nice Townsend FP and BP for I don't remember if it was E-99 or E-149...It was a deal either way on new pens. That is this years sale pen.

If interested in the "cheap" Pelikans....I would go to immediately to Galeria Kaufhaus, in that if they do not have last years 605 and 200, they could order it shipped to Frankfurt if you are going to be there a couple of days. They still had some in Heidelberg as of a month ago.

See if you can Buy it, have them ship it to your hotel, and if you are gone, have your hotel forward it. Talk to a manager.

Yes, it's the big departmentg store at the Hauptwache (= train station). Pens are in the basement.

Galeria-Kaufhof may be interesting if you are searching for Pelikan Specials (I bough a blue M605 for €99 in their Munich branch a few months ago), but otherwise their selection is generally too limited for my taste. When in Germany, I found them to be a cheap and convenient source for Clairfontaine paper though.

In Frankfurt, the ultimate pen shop for me is Gottfried Theissinger; Steinweg 7 (Passage), in the downtown area near the subway station "Hauptwache"

Unfortunately, their webpage is only in German, but clicking on the embedded map may give you a better idea of their convenient location: http://www.theissinger.de/theissinger/ihr-weg-zu-theissinger/#

I haven't been there for quite some time, but with their extensive selection this store would be a "must" for me if I were shopping for a fountain pen in Frankfurt.

One of the facts that I remember distinctly was that Faber-Castell had just released their "Graf" collection then and Theissinger had an assortment of fountain pens completely inked so that customers could properly try the way the pen would write. Compared to just dipping the nib in the store I found this far superior since the ink feed was tested too, but I have never come across this practice anywhere else (and I am not sure whether Theissinger still follows this labour intensive practice).

If you are just looking for bargains, I would also suggest Germany's answer to Pam Braun: http://www.missing-pen.de/indexk.htm

Like Pam, it's mail order and Rolf Thiel too has a wide selection, good prices, friendly service and is dependable. Rolf carries also a large selection of inks, much more than you would hope to find in any typical brick and mortar store in Frankfurt. This may be useful if you are interested in some non-German European inks like Herbin and Diamine.

He has sent several of my orders to my hotel addresses in Germany where they were always waiting for me when I arrived from my flight. (Check with you hotel first whether they will accept and hold packages for you. Most will, but some may need to be advised of your arrival date.)

Take also a look at the store directory in Marcus Glenn's pen pages: http://www.marcuslink.com/pens/stores2.html

I always found that Marcus' pages contain a wealth of good, useful information.

Good luck and if you should buy a pen and plan on taking it outside Europe, ask whether and how you could get a tax refund.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
