The Montblanc Meisterstück Diamond

bsodmike

Recommended Posts

Exclusively available throughout May from the Writing Room at Harrods, the Meisterstück Diamond is the latest pen to join this already legendary pen family. Its forefather, the famous black Meisterstück 149, was created over 85 years ago and was the first of its kind. Quickly coveted for its stylish exterior and innovative internal engineering, this luxurious pen was even the instrument of choice for gadget-savvy spy, James Bond, who used the gold version in ‘The Man with the Golden Gun’. Taking the limits of style and innovation even further, the Meisterstück Diamond pen features a hand crafted black precious resin casing and in the dome, a Montblanc diamond sits as if suspended mid-air. Touted by the brand as a work of art, the refined design of this pen enhances the assets of the original icon and takes the next step in Montblanc’s legendary pursuit of perfection.

Details and photo.

Cheers,

Mike.

Looks like Harrods is happy to perpetuate the distorted revisionism of the 85 year old 149. "If you tell a lie often enough, people will begin to believe it."

Is that a 149 with platinum trim in the photo, or is the photo black and white?

Lastly, men do not wear diamonds, ever. (Burton's Fourth Rule)

I'll pass, but I'm happy to see MB experiment with the 149. (psst - Hamburg - let's try a black resin 149 with platinum trim and a mother of pearl star).

This is will be available in Le Grand or Classique sized pens, not 149-sized, and it does have platinum plated trim. Here it is at Fahrney's. The price they quote on the Le Grand is $990.

Interesting... It looks like a 149 in the Harrods picture... But maybe the angle is done that way so you think that... I knew about the others, but a 149 would be interesting. I'm not big on the diamond though. But Ray has got it. MOP star, I would fork out the cash!

Yeah, I really prefer the MOP star to the diamond too.

I like the silver coloured trim. As others have suggested, I'm not too keen on the diamond as I do think this makes the pen too femine for me.

Well I for one am glad its not in the 149 model because then I'd have to get it and not too keen on a diamond, as Ray says "Burton's 4th rule". A 149 MOP star and platinum trim now your talking.

And how can this be, because he is the Kwisatz Haderach.

Montblanc's attitude is just miserable. The next think they will tell us is: "we never made a 139 or 128 or L30 or 45" ... :headsmack:

Marketers...they ruin everything, reduce things to their most shallow, extracting all substance, leaving only the most superficial and flimsy of the original, then inflate it by hype to convince you that its full of history and heritage.

The high-res photograph I got from my contact at MB Harrods was named "Le Grand PR 2 010310". Here's a better picture:

The 149 is a great PEN NOT a piece of jewelry! They should keep it that way.

I would be interested enough to want to see one in person. The high res pictures seem to show far more a 149 proportion profile than a 146, and gotta wonder if that is real or artifact.

lol. the diamond looks out of place on the pen. it makes the pen look funny. It would have looked better if the diamond was inbedded where the original white star is and the resin remained its original black colour.

That looks like a computer generated picture so no telling what pen it's meant to be. I'm pretty sure they won't make a platinum trim 149 because they know how much I want one!

Hahahaha.....Amen brother.

Couldn't agree more. A mother of pearl star on a 149 (with platinum, not gold, clip etc) is my grail pen.

Agree. Looks fatter than a 146.

But, bsodmike, I wonder if that is a photograph or an artist's impression? (CG?)
