i happened to get a MONTBLANC recently which is quite expensive. but yesterday, i saw a very cheap version of Montblanc that i got (mod:p145) on the web. it is said to be made in Hongkong but not in Germany. its wrap is a little tough on the picture, but the shop said as it's made in hongkong, so its wrap is not as delicate as German MB, it's not a fake pen and he can guarantee its quality.

i don't quite believe

can i trust him? is there any MB from places out of Germany?

thanks, i'm a rookie with rookie question==!.

I would be very careful, the model 145 is from the Meisterstuck line, which is made in Germany. They are not and have never been made in Hong Kong, or anywhere else.

Good Luck,

many thanks, it made me very happy to know that. if it is true that p145 has a cheap hongkong version, i'll be very sad, because i treasure the montblanc very much, although it's not a top mod, but it's my first pen of that price and quality.

thanks again

Yes, Montblanc pens have been and still are made outside of Germany - - - :yikes:

Montblanc Meisterstück set made in Germany

- - - but never outside of Europe. B)

During the 30' and 40' most Montblanc pens have been manufactured / made in Hamburg, Germany, but some pens and even special models also have been made in Italy, France, Spain and Danmark. Still in the 50' some Montblanc models weren produced in Danmark. During the 70' and 80' some cheaper Montblanc models were made by Mutschler in Heidelberg, Germany. And nowadays some pens with metal overlays are made in France near Paris in a former Cartier factory. But about 90% of the pens come from Hamburg!

Therefor a "Montblanc" made in Hong Kong definately is a fake!

I declined a very attractive 149 which was offered as a solid 18ct gold model. After much research and heartache it was the fact that it was made, or should I say, overlaid in France that made my mind up not to go ahead with the deal.

Still not sure whether I made the right decision

  • 1 month later...

I had a Boheme rollerball serviced and checked for authenticity as it had France on the clip. MB confirmed that it was authentic and informed me that some of the Boheme lines were made in France and have France instead of Germany on the clip. Hope this helps.

Dear Axel,

I've always wondered why the the basketweave and chevron MBs remind me of the Cartier style, something I've mentioned in previous posts but was not certain.

As a big fan of Cartier, thanks to you sir, I know what my ultimate pen will be.

Stay well,

Yes, but as Max mentioned, that factory was closed in 2007 and since that time all components for all Montblanc pens are produced in Hamburg.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
