It was shipped Priority mail... I don't think it was insured.

but then again it might have just been slowed down to the amount of mail going through Christmas time..

I got it. You would not believe how many people were at the FedEx office with doortags. Sheesh, did they deliver anything today.

Anyway I have the pen. Good luck to all trying to get their stuff!!! Sending good Karma your way.

Excuse me while i play with my late Christmas gift! :puddle:

I had a door knocker left on Christmas Eve, but when I checked the tracking it had arrived back at the office, so they called me when it was ready for pickup later that afternoon. I've actually had pretty good luck with FedEx, overall. I prefer them as their office is only about 15 minutes from here - UPS's is way out by the airport.

A few months ago I was convinced that GLS, which is comparable to FedEx or DHL, lost my package containing a beautiful Lamy Lady. Actually, I was convinced their driver stole it as, when I asked for a copy of the delivery receipt through the seller, I discovered:

- The delivery receipt had "my" signature on it, except I was on holiday 2000 km away when it was signed and it didn't resemble my signature at all

- The address the sender had put on the package was wrong, putting the delivery location on an empty piece of land in my street

- The tracking number did not generate any hits in GLS's database, they claimed they had never seen the package (even though another division could produce the delivery receipt!), which convinced me someone had erased the entry.

BUT

several months later I saw the GLS delivery guy in our street. I ran out to catch him, and asked him against all hopes if he remembered my package. The murmured something I did not understand, and then proceeded to take my to the side of my house, where, hidden under some cover, was the package, all moist. It had been sitting there all this time. I was so surprised and hapy that the I didn't even ask any questions, like why he put it there without putting at least a note in my mailbox or so...

The pen was fine by the way, luckily the seller had packed it very solidly.

A while after that, I came home and found a package delivered by GLS at my front door, covered by some stuff the guy had found in my driveway to protect it from the rain...

I live on the southside of Indianapolis, and have always received excellent service from FedEx,UPS,and especially the USPS.In a town this big I have marvelled at the courtesy displayed by these carriers. And UPSGirl is gorgeous, too!Sometimes I invite her in for coffee, but she says she only likes the smell in her truck from the fresh roast I have shipped from Florida....

FedEx brought me a brand new Duofold just yesterday,I have to love them!

I have no love for FedEx. Have yet gotten anything on their first attempt, they leave stuff at the wrong address, and seem to "loose" a goodly ammount of my incoming deliveries. UPS, love 'em. As well as USPS. I have both a super letter carrier and UPS driver on my route who jump through hoops to deliver the first time. Only exception is things needing a sig when no one is home.

That is very likely the case, but also for many of the international shipments customs sometimes causes delays. The longest wait I've had is for a shipment via Canada Post. Most days I'm just happy if everything arrives in one piece.

And for each person there are slight differences. I'm on a first name basis with my UPS driver, who I am pretty sure now knows my daily schedule :hmm1: Whereas my USPS carrier has left slips for me after seeing me. DHL and FedEx are hard to figure out, but their preferred delivery mode is to wait until I pop out for coffee or am otherwise indisposed and then ring the bell that does not work and ignore the big note posted on the front door.

Well the end of the saga is this: What have we learned?

When you know they will deliver before a certain time on a certain day (I had this info), sit in front of your door and wait. :roflmho:

My FedEx office is within bicycling distance from my home (did not know but this is cool for many reasons)

Fountain pens are worth waiting for :eureka:

I am now officially addicted to Stipula pens :bunny01:: :bunny01: ::bunny01:

I pray that everyone who is looking for a package, gets it today!!!

I am on :cloud9: !

It helps to brew some good tea and chill!!!

The End, at least for me

They were supposed to deliver a pen to me today. But instead of ringing the doorbell, they left a doortag and now I have to wait til 7pm to pick up the pen at the FedEx office. There are two cars in the driveway for gosh sake! And I was sitting waiting for the delivery.

:( FedEx is the worst! :bawl:

End of rant. I will have to wait til 7pm!

You think you got it bad ?

I bought a new Lamy 2000 from Pengalery 2 days later I hear the door bell ringing and my father in law tells me you got mail.

With a weird look he asks me why would you get an empty padded envelope ?

He even signed it.

I looked at the envelope and to my anger I saw it was a Fedex delivered envelope and the front of the envelope was torn and indeed empty.

I phoned Fedex and also informed Pengalery that I got an empty torn envolope.

Fedex said they will look for the pen but to be honest I had very little faith they will find it.

To my luck pengalery didn't ask too much and simply sent me another pen.

Until today I still didn't get anything from Fedex.

So the end it thumbs UP!!! To Pengalery on excellent service.

Thumbs DOWN!!! To Fedex for very disapointing service.

Respect to all

FedEx delivered a package to me, but to the wrong address. They investigated and found the package was correctly addressed but the driver logged it as delivered to a different address. They admit it was entirely driver error. They apologized. To this date, that is all I have. No package, no refund, just FedEx's apology. Yes, I am thrilled spitless with FedEx's service.

.....

If it is from USPS - then they too have protocols. I have found that the USPS confirmation number is of little insurance - especially witha n international shipment. At best I find that there is an update for shipment information AFTER the item is actually delivered. Tracking info is not one of USPS's best things for some reason

.....

I can confirm that. In about 90% of the cases in which I await a shipment that was handled by USPS from start, I recieve the shipment before the tracking information updates further than "Shipment data recieved". In more than one case, several days passed after recieving the shipment, before the tracking information was updated.

I too am frustrated these days about the service level of shipment handlers. A shipment from Bryant Greer of Pentime left USA via Los Angeles 23. December in the morning, according to USPS information. Since then, the tracking information has not been updated, and we have 31. December now. It´s classified as a Priority Mail International Parcel :headsmack:

I know for a fact that the Danish postal services and Danish customs have been doing their job between Christmas and New Year, since I have recieved other shipments from abroad during these days.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
