OK, Ali, I'm waiting patiently, in spite of the fact that the USPS has no record in their system of the numbers you gave me or Neal. But that can happen sometimes, I know, so I am waiting, as I told you I would. Hopefully they will arrive tomorrow.

 

BTW, I only posted here to get your attention. I don't know where your 5 "mails" went, but they didn't come to me. I never even got an email saying you had sent the pens. Just want you to know I wasn't trying to badmouth you, just get you to respond. And you did.

 

So please, don't anyone here think badly of Ali. Obviously many others here got their pens in a timely manner. Neal and I just happen to be the unlucky ones.

You could try searching for those registration numbers on the website for the postal service of Ali's country. (The numbers end in KW - is Ali in Kuwait? If so then that number should exist on the USPS's site too, at least once the packages enter the USPS. My guess is that they haven't yet arrived in the US; perhaps the Kuwait post office sent them by surface in error.)

No affiliation with the seller or the buyers, just want to add my experience regarding tracking of registered parcels sent to USA(I have sent quite a few). It will show on the online tracking system only at the time of delivery. Usually there is only one entry saying item delivered on so and so date, signed by so and so person. If the item is returned/undelivered/undeliverable due to some reason, that will be mentioned too. Parcels typically take two weeks to reach US from India, can't speak about other countries, some times parcels have taken upto 8 weeks(before which i have sent out replacements), but I have not lost a single registered parcel, touch wood!. All have been delivered eventually.

registered mail matter would, afaik, be under lock and key during storage and perhaps during transport that's why there's a long waiting time. sometimes, delay is not the seller's fault since he has no more control over the item once he turns it over to the courier/post (i sold a pen here on fpn and it should have been delivered in 2 weeks, but USPS messed up the notice -- buyer didn't receive any -- so he was only able to get his pen iirc 2 more weeks later). and it has also happened that a buyer of mine received his pen with USPS having no record of the parcel but only until its delivery...

 

btw, i have ordered pens from ali as well and am still waiting for them. i cannot recommend him yet as i have not yet received the pens, but i can surely say that he answers all your questions with no bs. and he also gave me a nice price for the pens i ordered! i actually am saving up now so i can buy more pens from him once i receive those i bought.

1. registered post free shipping (free shipping i am not responsible for delay and any problem that occurs my work will be limited to providing the buyer the proof of shipping by sending him a photo of the postal reciept and this registered mail cannot be tracked online and it is not insured for the people who already bought from me they know how i ship the goods and everyone who bought they recieved it no matter a little late but they recieved, "this kind of service is for people who are not fussy ")

 

 

 

 

2. special shipping by courier with tracking and insurance the price is 17$ " this is for the people who are fussy and who dont believe in me so please make your choice before any more purchases from me" ( note for this kind of shipping i will need your telephone number also as the shipping company needs it )

Well, I always wanted to be in an opera to satisfy my Italian mother's dreams.

 

Got my pen and it is swell. Also cleared up the communications debacle with Ali. One of the problems, perhaps on my part, is that I am used to EMS with international shipping of pens. With EMS you receive a blow by blow every time the pen lands and takes off. With whatever Ali used it didn't even register. I never said I didn't think he sent them; that was never in question. I just wanted to know when and how long it might take, ergo my asking the rest of you.

 

So Ali has my imprimatur now. Just be aware that it may take a loooooooooong time for something to get here from Kuwait, a beautiful vacation spot, by the way. Maybe someone might want to fly there for the weekend and pick up some pens for the rest of us?

Well, I have to say that this is a bit harsh. People who asked in the forum did so in a polite and elegant manner, no bad comments that I am aware of. Simply a kind request for information on how long the post would take. I never felt they doubted the goods were sent, but they rightly asked how, in your experience, would take the pens to arrive to their homes from Kuwait. I was also tempted to post something of that sort to know if other buyers had received their pens or it was only me who was experiencing a far too long delay.

 

I paid on Nov 30th and still waiting for my pens, my communication with the seller has been ok, he promptly responded to my PMs so I have no complains in that department. As the previous buyers, I have no doubt the pens were sent, but I did not know it would take over a month to arrive.

 

I think after one month of waiting for delivery you have no choice but to "tolerate" people asking where is the stuff they paid for.

Mine arrived safely yesterday - having ordered on 13th December. I received a PM from Ali indicating despatch date as well - which was probably getting on for a week after I paid. Pen is very nice but, as I feared, way too fine for me to use. I also needed to give it a good soak with the slightly soapy water treatment to get it working well. No problems anywhere in the transaction for me.

This is proof that you paid the fee for registered postage, not proof that the pen was mailed and, indeed, not proof that it arrived in the USA (nor even that it left Kuwait). As I've mentioned to you on more than one occasion, the USPS has no record of this registration number (and, now that the number has been made public, anyone who wants to can verify this). In spite of your suggestions to the contrary, this is not a matter of stubbornness or impatience on my part -- I do know a little bit about how the US mail operates (I have contacted three separate offices in search of the pen). Instead, it is a matter of your unwillingness or inability to comprehend the concerns of your customers: I paid for two pens well over a month ago, received one (that I did not order) after about two weeks, and am still awaiting the second -- with absolutely no evidence that it was ever mailed or that it even arrived in the US (but clear evidence that you paid for registered postage). Given your own estimate of 2-4 weeks for the pen to arrive, I think we both have good reason to be concerned.

 

I would also point out that I paid for the pen on November 22 while the date on your registration receipt reads December 13; thus, it would appear that any delays have more to do with you than with the holidays. Even so, enough time has passed that the registration number should have at least been entered into the system by now, which leads me to believe that the pen was never actually shipped (in spite of the fact that you clearly paid the appropriate fees and no doubt trusted that it would be shipped). I've done enough business with international sellers over the years to understand that there can be legitimate delays, but the complete lack of evidence that the pen is anywhere in the postal system makes it hard to justify continued patience.

 

On top of that, you have chosen to air this dispute before the entire forum rather than simply trying to communicate with a fellow FPN member who obviously trusted you enough to enter into a business transaction with you. These actions have now undermined my confidence in this transaction and I will act accordingly.

Well, I know I am the FNG on the block, but I thought I would post up my experience with the sale of this item. I contacted the seller over this past weekend, and sent him Payment via Paypal for a set of these pens and another Sheaffer he had listed for sale. I paid for express shipping, not because I did not trust the seller, but because I tend to be VERY impatient when it comes to getting things I purchase over the Internet.

 

The seller stated that he would ship the pens out on Monday. Sure enough, Monday I received a PM from him with the tracking number. I checked the tracking number and watched the progress of the package. Yesterday, only 3 business days after the pens were shipped, the tracking service said the package was out for delivery. I found that impossible to believe, since the pens were shipping from Kuwait to Northern IL. When I arrived home last night to my delight the package was there waiting for me.

 

The pens are as advertised, and so far I am a very satisfied customer. For those of you not happy with how long it is taking to get your items I both sympathise, but also encourage you to pay for express shipping next time. I received my pens from half way around the world in THREE BUSINESS DAYS.

Sure enough, I'd have opted for express shipping should had been offered in the first place. My pens were paid in full on Nov 30th and still waiting. The seller did not send the pens until Dec. 13th, so one thing is not paying for express shipping and another is to take two full weeks to visit the post office.
