Any One Here Use A "pocket Briefcase"?

I found that one of the ways to increase the frequency of use of my fountain pens was to find really nice writing material which I can use - on the go. I dug up an old pocket briefcase which essentially is a piece of stiff leather to hold a stack of cards together to be used as storage and backing for writing base. I use an Omas and recently was given a Rolex Pocket Briefcase (will share photos later on these). I put the PB in my bag and carry them as much as I can to use a scribble paper.

Would like very much to know if anyone else here who are FP users do the same.

Cheers

I prefer to make my own small writing pad for taking quick messages. See below photos. Part of the fun is creating the stuff yourself with your choice of fountain pen friendly paper.

I have a bunch of Levenger's pocket briefcases in at least four colors (ruby, navy, red, blueberry). Love 'em to pieces. My favorite are the discontinued flip tops, which is what's currently in my purse.

I have two of the Levenger's pocket briefcases, the basic model with an open front, and the International, which flips open. For travel, I liked the International if I carried it in the pocket of a suit or sport jacket. The basic model fits a shirt a lot better. Now that I am retired, I probably use the basic model the vast majority of the time.

The 3" x 5" cards are a handy note format as you can buy lots of desk accessories to file and organize them.

I use one everyday at work. Its a minimalist black leather one with a single internal pocket that I bought at Hacket in London in 1990.

I have tried the Levenger PB but I find it a bit too bulky.

I use custom made cards 0.5 square grid printed on bone coloured 100gsm presentation paper. Great for notes in the office and reminders.

I carry the Levenger PB everyday, usually in my shirt pocket. I carry a number of cards in the front writing pocket. These are imprinted at the top with my business card info, which comes in handy all the time. Write a quick note and hand it to someone, and they have my contact info right along with the note. I find this far preferable to scrunching the same note on the back of a business card.

The pocket just behind the cards collects receipts, etc.

The middle pocket has the magnifying lens that came with it -- very handy, what a great bonus -- stamps, and calendar. The calendar came with it too. When it ran past the two years printed on it, I emailed Levenger and they sent a new one for free.

I used to carry spare 3x5s in the back pocket. Then I found that the back cover of my Field Notes fits perfectly. Having the Field Notes enhances the utility of the PB, and the PB enhances the use of the Field Notes; it is a marriage made in heaven. One might object to the loss of storage space for 3x5s, but I need fewer of them because I use the Field Notes for a lot of the lists and notes that would have gone on a 3x5. (I noticed in one of the reviews that Harry linked, someone else did the same thing with a Moleskine Cahier.)

All in all, this set-up has become so integral to my daily routine, I don't know what I'd do without it.

I love mine that I got at Crane's. Holds my daily 3x5 in card, and it has a side pocket for my calling cards. I use it every day at work.

I use one daily in conjunction with my job. I picked up Buxton's version of the Pocket Briefcase several years ago at Staples. It was under $10.00. My company provides printed 3x5 cards, name address company logo (posted in 3x5 thread). I almost never go anywhere without it. I put it in a shirt or pant's pocket and out I go. One of the handiest tools I have!

Well, this topic just about has me ready to add a pocket briefcase to my essentials!

I use a small Levenger organizer hand-bag that I love and this might make a great addition to my larger tote. I'll look for a used one - or wait to catch one of those sales!

Harry Tan: thank you for those great links & also, your photography is truly inspiring. Love your web site - mine should look as cool!

I use a Levenger Bomber Jacket PB as an everyday carry around. I am an avid 3x5 card user and weave them into my other disjointed efforts at organization. I also have a 2 pen zippered PB from Levenger that I will throw into a bike bag or carry if heading to the beach. /Craig

Yeah, no kidding! And I can't afford to spend any more this month, either!

I guess I'll just drool over these pocket briefcases for a bit longer.

The Levenger International is my wallet. I carry all my essential cards and cash, along with a ruby Namiki Impressions rollerball. I have thought about swapping the Namiki for my Pelikan 800 ballpoint, but the 800 is just a bit too long. I always have a fp in my pocket, so the rb is for signing receipts, etc. where a fp is not the best choice.

I use a Levenger pocket briefcase, and carry it in my pocket everyday. But I wouldn't dare carry a fountain pen in my pockets, so i use a Space pen, which writes in any position, and in any weather.

I carry a Levenger one with me everyday to work, along with a Fountain pen in my pocket ready to jot down a quick note or reminder.

They have one on a good sale now that looks interesting as a combination of PB and everyday wallet. It's a 4x6 size and while their personalized cards are nice they are hugely expensive compared to index cards from Staples.

Hmm, I was looking for something like this. Is there a more general term for a small hard-backed folder of roughly A5 or quarto size which can hold bits of paper? I was thinking of finding a hard-backed notebook and gutting it, but I'm sure somewhere there is a suitable product! The Levenger pocket briefcases don't really do it for me.
