Recommended Posts

I am looking forward to setting up at the Dallas Pen Show again this year, October 2 & 3. www.dallaspenshow.com It looks like it will be a great show with great sponsors, give aways, seminars and pens and pen people. Perry Kearney and I plan to arrive on Thursday and we'll be setting up for repairs and selling. Look for The Write Pen banner. Hope to see you there.

I really want to go. With any luck I'll have a delivery nearby at the right time to sneak in.

This will be my first ever Pen Show. Suggestions on what I should bring? What I should not miss? What I should expect? Any special pacing tips? Thanks!

Dallas is a good first show. It's not tiny, but not a monster like DC or LA. Plus you'll have lots of friendly pen people there to chat with. Wear comfortable shoes. Take a break now and then so you don't overdose on pens (I'm serious!).

I've not been to a pen show before. Should I assume payment only in cash or do some vendors take credit cards? I hardly ever carry cash anymore, so need to load up if no one takes credit.

Let me know, thanks!

I just heard that Mike Masuyama will be there so I'm thinking of driving up from Houston on Friday so he can make some of my pens work! May even pop by on Saturday morning before heading back.

Heading out in the Morning with Danny Fudge. Look for us at the "The Write Pen" tables, I'll be the good looking one in a Hawaiian shirt!

In the Big D for the Dallas Pen show!! Lots of great pen friends already here tonight and we are big time talking pens!! I already sold two pens and scored a Parker Duofold Vac in red stripe and my very first MB 149!! Have seen lots of pen friends! Pete Kirby, Joel Hamilton, pengoddess, Danny Fudge (of course). Looks like our tables will be next to Mike of Mike-it-Work! Danny will be sacking and fixing pens both days. Please make plans to come out to the show if at all possible and drop by and say Hi to the pakmanpony!

Hey Perry - I've decided to drive up on Saturday morning and spend the whole day there before driving back that night. Can you give me some advice - should I bring bags of cash or do most people take credit cards? I'm not expecting to buy any pens (ha ha) but I do want to have some work done - I assume the work type things will only take cash? What's your experience?

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
