Montblanc boutique at airports

If you bought a pen from one of MB boutiques at an airport, how was the pricing? If it is in the duty free area, I think the sales tax is waved; but, I am not sure of the actual price on products there. Do they only sell at MSRP?

I almost bought a 149 at an airport last year. The pricing seemed to be slightly lower than MSRP, but not by much.

The airports in the UK appears to sell at the same price as non-airport shops except you do not pay the VAT (currently 15% - soon to be 17.5% again). The problem is they usually have a limited product range. My brother though lost his 3 peice Meisterstuck set (inc leather pouch) so was able to save a good bit of cash by repurchasing from the airport when flying on business.

MB in my country's airport may give a 10% discount on the non-limited editions at times. Limited editions including WEs are only sold at MSRP. Goods and Services Tax are waived though (i.e. 7% in this case). :)

Other pens available for sale:

Pelikan : Keep a watchout here, M805 FPs, M400 and M405 FPs,

I think airports will be slightly cheaper than retail stores, but not as good as Internet pricing i.e. through ur trusted pen dealer etc.

On the upside in many airports they do not increase prices when the market does because they are not updated so u can get some steals once in a while.

Often the MB shops / boutiques at airports are not actually run by MB but by franchises (i.e. agents). They therefore do not get the same range of LEs. I tried to get an Oppenheim at LHR this year but no joy as the shop was run by Harrods!

This does not happen in my country. The MB Boutiques are pretty efficient in price increase. :headsmack:

"Dangerous" but fun and an enjoyable way to pass some time while waiting for a flight! :)

Yes I agree with Dov, here in Israel the shop at Ben Gurion that sells MB is very expensive. I expect as a direct result of their having to cover exorbitant rental expenses etc.

Its a place to buy MB if you dont know the prices "outside" and are willing to be served by people with no pen experience at all and pay a pretty penny too.

Buying at an MB Boutique is a by far a more pleasurable experience, where you can spend a little time looking at MB pens and wares and dont have to keep

an eye out whether you have missed your flight or not.....

The MB boutique I know in Israel is well stocked, yet the staff are pretty stuck up and look down their noses at you if you only want to buy a bottle of ink

or just checking on a price etc. Not recommended...............

I was in te Frankfurt airport boutique in July. The manager there told me that the boutique used to be privately owned, but MB took over management. The prices were exactly the same as the prices in the Hamburg boutique I visited a few days earlier. But they gave me forms to fill for tax refund.

Hi, I know this is old topics but this information maybe could give you some benefits...

I bought 146 at Narita Airport and it is cheaper more than 15 % than normal price.

Sales assistant claim it is 20% lee than Japan Boutique price.

But no special edition 90 Years version and only sell mystery black and royal blue ink.

Singapore Airport sell 90 Years special edition and a few variation of ink color.

Pen price is almost equal to MB Online Store price (USD) but ink price is around 10% maybe due to currency exchange..

Conclusion : different airport, different policy, different price..

In Singapore downtown's boutique the price for 149 is 1100 SDG, while its price is 960 SGD in the airport, almost 15% discount. Will I buy one brand new in the airport? Still not.

At the Montblanc Boutique at Ohare they offered me a 10% discount on the 90th 149. They said they're an outside franchise and thus have the ability to discount.
