The perfect pocket pen and notepad

So I have been using a Moleskine Volant mini {2 1/2" X 4"} in my pocket for a while for quick notes and such. I like the perforated pages to rip out and give to someone if they need a small piece of paper. The small size is hardly noticeable and they seem to hold up rather well. I was carrying a Fisher space pen as a loner and for quick notes. I recently lost the space pen and replaced it with this mini Retro 51 elite little ball point which has a clip. I wanted them to stay together but clipping the pen to the cover --it would not stay on. Sooo I used a whole punch I got at a craft store and made a slot for the pen clip in the back cover --Now it all fits together in a nice little package. Sorry if I rambled on--Here are some pics:

perfect pocket pen ≠ ballpoint.

I know--I know. But this is the pen I lend to people when they want to borrow a pen AND when I am walking or boarding the NY subway and jotting down a note or idea--not the ideal time to pull out my Mont Blanc FP!!

One time I had the idea to cut a slot in the actual pocket Moleskine paper so my Fisher Space Pen Bullet would fit. It worked, but it was annoying 'cause it made the paper all weird (having a rectangular section cut near the end).

I like your idea better!

  • 3 weeks later...

I did something similar couple weeks ago - I made a little cut on the inside of my Levenger slim card wallet and the Fisher Space Bullet fits in quite nicely.

Here's a very... strange but effective solution that I use:

It fits snugly into almost any wallet or notebook that I can fit into my pocket.

The sword is mightier than the pen. However, swords are now obsolete whereas pens are not.

I carry a small spiral notepad which is 3"X5" size, and a Cross Townsend or a Cross Morph BP.

My fountain pens travel in a zipper ed pen case, inside my man-bag or a backpack, with my comp-books books etc.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
