How orange is the orange and what is the lilac like on the 365 pens? Looks more purple than lilac on websites, but anyone seen them in person to comment?

365 colors? Well, initially the pen was available in white, amber, and blue mottled with white. I didn't find the yellow or blue so appealing so I purchased the white pen. The amber had vermeil trim, while the white and blue had sterling trim.

There was a later issue which included the violet, which I have. It's a nice color, not too intense but not too light either. It's pretty true to what you might see in pictures. There was also a brilliant green and a bright red. All had sterling trim.

There was a plain black as well, but I can't remember if it was released with the initial group or the second batch. I think it came later with the red, green, and violet.

There was no orange model, though the 365 is basically a regular production version of Delta's big lever filling LEs such as the Israel, Lugdunum, and of course the orange and black Colosseum. That pen got Delta started on its now signature color scheme, featured on the Dolce Vita pens...

My pick of the 365 colors would be Violet, white, or amber. The red and green are ok. I thought the blue was the weakest color.

best,

Doug

Hi - I bought an 'orange' one from this seller, but the colour is actually much more accurately described as yellow IMHO. It is a really beautiful pen - one of my favourites, and a great writer. Good aftersales service from GBA Pens, too.

I chose my user name years ago - I have no links to BBS pens (other than owning one!)

I have both pens, but, as luck would have it, I have no sense of color but I will do my best. First, remember that these pens are marbled, not solid colors. By "orange," do you mean "amber?" The amber is a light, warm yellow-brown with streaks of dark gold-brown amber. The "violet" is a combination of dark turquoise, plum-violet and streaks of silverpearl. I can't imagine any photograph capturing the full impact of either of these colors. They are drop dead lovely.

- Disclaimer - I told you I have no sense of color.

Orange as in University of Tennessee orange, or the orange that appears to be the color on the Dolce Vita. If it is amber, to the brown or yellow side, that is out.

Now the lilac. Plum, purple something not a lilac which I envision as a lighter washed out purple. Now if it appears in person to be a vibrant purple, more of a royal purple, then fine.

Compared to the Delta Dolce Vita pens (which, to me, are indeed bright orange), I wouldn't call the Delta 365 (below) orange; it's more aptly described as amber. I posted these photos in another thread, but here's my Delta 365, with gold trim, purchased several years (not from GBA Pen). My 365 has the Delta Millennium nib for some reason, which I don't think was standard for the 365s.

Other photos for comparison: FPN member Jopen reviewed his Delta 365, same colour as mine but with silver trim, here.

Thank you, thank you for the photos of the amber pen. Yes, it is amber, not orange. Yet it looks great and has a vibrancy that the white one lacks, though the white one is stunning as well. Now, if I can see one of the purple, I can choose!!

That's curious -- I bought my Delta 365 on the FPN marketplace and it also came with the Delta Millennium nib. Was it ever an "upgrade" option on this model? [My Delta 365 is solid black, by the way.]

Which is the millenium nib? What is the diffference between a regular nib and a millenium nib?

Thanks for the link to the Delta presentation on their 365 series. My pen is exactly the all-black one shown there, except that the nib is not the same as shown there. The Millennium nib is a large one (the largest Delta has, I think) that, as far as I am aware, comes with the pens that are one step up in their lineup from the 365, for example the Dolce Vita Oversize. Here's a link that has a close-up of the Millennium nib. However, to complicate matters further, the Millennium nib on my Delta 365 is single-tone yellow-gold, not a two-tone job like the one shown on that page. If anybody can shed more light on the Millennium nib, its place in the Delta nib hierarchy, and whether it was offered with 365s, I would be very grateful.

I cannot clarify the issue, but I want to express a word of envy. I will bet the Millennium nib looks great and performs wonderfully on your 365. I often describe the 365 as a Pel M-1000 sized pen with an M-800 sized nib. The larger nib seems to be a perfect match to this model and I wih ithad been an available option. It sounds like you have a great pen.

Indeed, you're right -- I feel the nib size is an excellent match for the rest of the pen. It's also just a little bit springy, like that on my Omas Ogiva 557, and writes delightfully. I thought mine (which I bought used on the FPN marketplace) was a special "frankenpen" but having read girlieg33k's post above, I'm now wondering if certain retailers offered the Millennium nib as an option with the 365 at the point of sale.

The Millennium nib was fitted to the 365 for a couple of years later in its production run. I think it was to coincide with the turn of the millennium, mainly used in 1999-2000. It's not a bigger nib, as far as I know, just a different nib engraving. 365s are great writers, smooth and soft with good ink flow, no matter what the nib engraving looks like...

Thanks! That was just the information I was seeking. I don't have a 365 with the "regular" nib, so I can't compare the Millennium nib with the "regular" 365 nib, but I just compared it against an M800, and the Millennium and M800 nibs are almost exactly the same size. I don't have an M1000, so I don't know how much bigger that nib is. Anyway, from FrankB's description of the regular 365 nib, Vicary must be right that the Millennium nib is the same size as the regular 365 nib, and I stand corrected. It still is a great nib and a great pen!

Apologies for the late reply, PB; I'm glad that Doug chimed in with the answer. The only thing I knew about the Millennium nib was it was used on larger Delta pens, like the Dolce Vita Oversize and the Parthenope. Because I acquired my 365 a few years ago, I deduced that it was an earlier production version, which is why it has the Millennium nib.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
