Again, thank you for the music, being this part one of my favorites. I don't have a Diplomat but I do the 149 and it is one of my favorites which stays longer time in my pen rotations.

The 149 and the Diplomat are one and the same pen. Diplomat isn't the official name for the pen, but it's a common nickname.

 

 

Thank you Tsujiri.... then I have it! It is a wonderful pen indeed and the piston system is the smoothest that I've encountered from my modern pens.

Hmmm, my 149 piston is really stiff. I wonder if that's out of the ordinary after hearing many other people talk about how smooth theirs are. Mine's stiffer than the pistons on my Pelikans or even my Lamy 2000, which is supposedly known to be stiff. Does anyone know how to lubricate a 149 piston?

Haha I do love the pen but I am Diplomat #001. She's merely one of what will be many I'm sure. Already have another one on the way.

I use Noodlers EEL Lubricating ink--It seems to work pretty good. I don't like the ink to draw with but I put it in the pen, let it sit, dump it, do it again and it seems to lubricate it OK. I have only had to do that once in 16 years BTW.

I have it and my MB does NOT perform brilliantly with it but rathers skips annoyingly. You can try it though but I am not a great fan of this ink for it does not perform well in many of my piston pens (Pelikan is an exception, but has NOT improved the stiffness of the piston). MB service shop is good and prompt. I would not mess around with it and send it to them.
