Mont Blanc 'VIP'.

Hello folks, I have joined today to ask a question or two about a pair of fountain pens I have had for well over 10 years now.

They both came in cardboard boxes and had plastic inserts to hold the pens, they also came with leather pen holders. The box read, 'Mont Blanc VIP', I am very curious if anyone could give me any details about the pens, as I can seem to find any details about 'VIP' pens online.

The only thing I know about the pens is the nibs are white gold 585 14k.

I have a few pictures I have uploaded.

I checked on fountainpen.de (site has a gallery of lots of Montblanc pens) and there is actually some info about it - Clickie!

The text reads : 1973-1975 - The VIP-Pen is the only Montblanc pen, which isn't produced by Montblanc, but by Aurora in Italy.

There are also some photos showing the true Aurora model and the Montblanc version below it.

Seems you got yourself a German with Italian roots, carrying a french name :roflmho:

Wow thanks for the info Neuuubeh. :D

Would this pen be valiable, or is it going to be regarded as a sub-standard Mont Blanc pen?

*Edit* Oh and talkinghead, it is very smooth to write with, it has an italic style nib. :)

Certainly not sub-standard, especially not with a 14K nib (that is a '585' I see stamped on it isn't it?). It's just that MB used to make pens across the range, and made them very well - unfortunately it got them a reputation for making great pens that allowed them to go upmarket in the eighties and nineties and drop the 'ordinary' pens that are still great to use.
