Which Unicef Donation pen presentation box do you like best?

You can see them at: http://www.fountainpen.de/donation-unicef-jahn-149.htm

Click on the selections on the left hand side: Helmut Jahn, Andree Putmam, and Tom Sachs.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but is the pen a standard 2004 production 149?

What are the material used for the boxes? What's written on the Helmut Jahn box?

I love the Helmut Jahn box. I'm not too sure what's written on it, but what's inside is a standard 149.

Poetry by Goethe is was the description says. I cannot read the actual words.

I like the Putman design the best.  But there is something about the Sachs that I can't quite put my finger on...must be in the third picture down.

I hadn't noticed.

Either MB didn't either, or they have a good sense of humor.

I think its that Putman pen carrier/hard pouch that's attractive. It's simple & practical.

cheers

The Putman is made of lacquered wood, the Jahn of clear acryllic, and the Sachs of card-board and paper.

I feel that the Sachs is the most special, since every inscription and drawing on it, down to the label of the ink bottle, is hand-written or drawn by children. My vote for best looking goes to the Putman.

:yikes: Thats some serious polishing! I'm amazed, because I thought it was resin.

The Helmut Jahn of course :P I've got my Dad's 1978 149 inside it while I use the pen that came with it in my 149 pen stand on my desk. No 1642 of 4810, considered a LE, by MB at least....lol!

Bought this in 2001/2002 during my first year at Uni..

Edit: Thanks, I just looked at the Sachs again...amusing that :) Mmm..liking a Putman a lot, it does look to be the nicest of the lot...

  • 1 year later...

Andree Putman for me. It is just so Montblanc.

Jahn..too much like a sarcophagus...but indeed a respectable effort.

Sachs...OK, considering not everybody that uses a MB wears a suit.

If we are talking about which do we like best in the context of the theme, then Sachs for me. It's probably the most unique package to come around in a long time.

In the case of pure aesthetics, then the Helmut Jahn.

I'd rate the Putman as a distant 3rd - doesn't appeal to me.

The other two are very nice, the Jahn is modern looking and the Sachs a bit more classical in appearance. I think the Sachs wins out just slightly for me though.

Sachs, mainly cause I love his works in general

The Putnam is beautiful as well- the box looks like a holder for Chinese chops
