  1. According to this article, Southworth closed its paper mill. http://www.masslive.com/business-news/index.ssf/2017/08/southworth_paper_closing_leaves_gap_for.html The company's website is still active, mentioning they are part of Neenah Paper. The brand and its paper, which is fountain pen friendly, may soldier on.
  2. Good evening, I have just finished my last sheet of G Lalo writing paper and am looking to replace it with something a bit different. In an ideal world I'd find a nice cream, light grey or mid blue paper available in quarto sizes with a nice watermark but I am a realist! Smythson is just too expensive, Clairefontaine as far as I can see only do white and G Lalo (at least the blue) just isn't terribly interesting. I usually just print the address on at home so I'm not looking to acquire reams of personalised paper. So can anyone recommend a good paper that can easily be acquired in Engla
  3. I do hope this has not been covered elsewhere. I did a search and could find nothing on the forum. I recently had need of some aged paper and not having time to mess about with tea staining and all its vagaries I decided to cheat :-) After a fair bit of searching (it may have been quicker with the tea) I took the plunge and ordered some Ideenstadl aged paper from Amazon UK. I am no expert on paper but I suspect this is product is designed primarily for laser/inkjet printers and of course the ageing is applied by four colour offset printing. The product retails at £17.90 for 100 sheets. (2
  4. Does anyone know whether G.Lalo produce an Ivory A5 Velin (smooth finish) writing pad? I can find their Velin range in white A5 and I can find the Verge (laid finish) in Ivory. I've been using the Crown Mill Vellum A5 Ivory for some time (as per here: http://www.cultpens.com/i/q/OR23939/original-crown-mill-vellum-writing-pad-a5) and like it very much and I also use the G.Lalo Verge from time to time but I prefer the smooth finish, especially if I'm in fine nib mode.

Visker And Scrivener, Inks & Ink Well

I found the following site called Vicker And Scrivener, while searching the internet for dip pens. Although they make glass handle dip pen holders, i.e. a dip pen, they, also, produce ink wells and inks. I noticed that they are located in Galveston, Texas (Gulf Of Mexico) and wondered about the properties of their inks and how they might compare to other permanent and waterproof inks? 6. I like to use a writing pad while I work at my computer, letter size, legal style, etc... but most of what I find at Staples and such places are not at all FP friendly. At the nicer stationery and paper stores, there is "letter-writing" stuff, but not good pads for daily use. Any suggestions? Should I try AMPAD, or Levenger? Thanks very much. Thank you. 7. Can anyone recommend a top quality A4 writing pad (for fountain pen and other types of pen), which is bound sideways (i.e. glued along the left hand side)? White or cream colour. Ideally lined. I recently bought an A4 writing folder from Smythson. As nice as the product is, I just feel that the blue shaded paper it comes with isn't what I'm after. It is nice paper, but I don't like the fact that it has a Smythson front cover on it in blue (looks pretentious) and I'd rather have white/cream paper. Any recommendations? Frustratingly, it seems that most pads are top-bound (e.g. Crown Paper
