Sheaffer Imperial Sterling Silver (1970s) plus converters.jpg

This photo shows my 1975 Sheaffer Imperial in Sterling Silver, and two Sheaffer converters that I know will fit into, and work in, it. The converter adjacent to the ruler is the vintage Sheaffer squeeze converter that came with this pen (I also have another one of these converters, which came with came a 1980s Sheaffer 'Triumph' (model no. 444) that I bought in 2024. The converter adjacent to the pen's grip-section is a modern Sheaffer twist converter that I bought brand new in the UK in 2024. The twist-converter's 13-digit EAN is: 0074040967005. N.b. please see my other photo of this pen and these converters - because it shows the pen's grip-section unscrewed, enabling one to see the long metal sleeve that is on the rear of this 1970s pen's grip-section, and into which these converters sit/seat deeply. If the grip-section of your Sheaffer pen doesn't have that metal sleeve on the rear of its grip-section, the modern twist-converter will probably NOT fit in to your pen! It will seat into the grip-section, but the piston-turning knob of the converter will be so long that your pen's barrel cannot be screwed onto the pen's grip-section. I have unscrewed the pen's grip-section from its body in order to show the long metal sleeve that is on the back of the pen's grip-section. When one fits either converter to this pen's grip-section, the converter sits/seats very deeply into this metal sleeve. According to this ↓ post... ...the modern twist converter will NOT fit in to a Sheaffer pen that does NOT have the long metal sleeve on the rear of its grip-section that the pen in my photo has got. As that post shows, on Sheaffer pens that don't have the metal sleeve on the rear of their grip-section, converters do not sit/seat very deeply; and the modern twist converter is then so long that the pen's barrel does not have enough room for it. i.e. if your Sheaffer pen doesn't have the metal sleeve on its grip-section, the barrel cannot be screwed back on to the pen's grip-section if the twist-converter is fitted.
