The serial number is common among fakes. There are several threads that mention the same serial number.

I had seen the cheap fakes of 149s, openly sold on the streets of Shanghai at 2 for $10, I hadnt appreciated that the fakers would go to the lengths of the Chopin CD and all the rest of the fakery.

It is a great pity that they even try to fake MBs rather than create their own designs using existing skills and talents. I have two Chinese pens that are high quality and attractive pens that would stand comparison against the majority of Western pens without the need to copy or immitate, and still cost the same as the badly made MB fakes.

Ughh! Just looking at the site name tells you what type of people go about that site. As for most faked, anything Meisterstuck. Simple, synonymous with MB; perfect target.

PRAG

Faber Castell E-Motion in Pearwood, F nib
Montblanc 149, F nib
Visconti Divina Proporzione 1618, S nib

Simply (but not exclusively) point your mouse to fleabay where there are excellent copies as well as some cracking genuine MBs. The counterfeiters nowadays are fantastic if they try hard. I can only be fully reassured if I purchase from ADs or known sellers, but even then mistakes happen. Good hunting.

Hello...I'm new to this forum and happy to be here. I was wondering if this forum has a thread where someone can post a link or pic of a MB they are considering and veteran experts here give an opinion on its authenticity? The reason I ask is I am also a member of a forum just like this for designer purses (I'm a Coach buff) and there are specific threads call 'Authenticate This" for each designer name handbag where members post items they are interested in buying and "unofficial" experts render their "opinion" on authenticity.... http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-shopping/...ach-302470.html

I ask because I am the proud owner of only a couple of older MB's (Meisterstuck 163 and 165). They were gifts, I'm not a collector (wish I could afford to be :-) and I would like to find the matching fountain pen 144, as I have a 144 desk pen base and I don't believe a Chopin will fit. I could tell ya more than you you want to know about how to spot a fake Coach :D but I am TOTALLY clueless when it comes to knowing what to look for to spot a fake MB or the accessories. If you have something like this...please point me in the right direction...

Best regards

Phyl

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
