Essri Brief Written Review

Hi,

This is my first post, I know ESSRI has already been covered to death but I'm really enjoying the ink and figured I'd at least give something back to the community.

Great review and I disagree - not done to death at all as I reckon there are still a lot of people out there who haven't tried it, being scared of iron-gall! I've just started using it again as I stumbled upon the best pen/ESSRI combination I have; quite by chance. Basically, it's really 'shining' in a Sailor Sapporo with a B nib. I can see this partnership going far.

This is great, thanks! I'm still hoping to buy this ink soon.

I'm pretty sure the review index only has Sandy1's review of ESSRI, so it's great to have other perspectives. I'm sure she'll concur. Most of the comments on her excellent review didn't include writing samples, so yours is particularly valuable.

I'd say welcome to FPN, but if you own ESSRI, I'm pretty sure you've been lurking here for awhile. :)

Hi,

:W2FPN:

And congratulations on your first Ink Review!

Believe me, more ideas and more samples from different pens & papers are always most welcome!

The comparo with tsuki-yo is interesting. Too bad you're getting the longish dry time that I also experience.

I look forward to more of your Ink Reviews.

Bye,

Thank you for a great review. I have only this week managed to ink up and try the ESSRI from a sample and I was very pleased with the 'magical' properties of sky blue to almost blue-black. Mine seems to oxidise at a slower rate than yours as my written samples darkened overnight! This is my first ever iron-gall ink - I have generally avoided them after concerns over their impact on filing systems.

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.

Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
