Mont Blanc Inks

For those of you who enjoy using MB inks. I've just spoken to a supplier in the UK about this. They don't know about the Seasons Greeting for 2009 they are going to call Montblanc and let me know so I will post this up as soon as I know something.

Regarding the other inks, she told me that Sepia and Racing Green are definately being discontinued, but that the other - including Violet - would continue as it is in their 2010 order book and available to order.

I'm not quite sure how this fits in with their so called new range as they didn't know much about that. I have to say Montblanc don't seem to be very good at keeping their suppliers informed. Do they not realise that anticipation builds a healthy order book?

Holly,

There's suppossedly a MB Purple, but there's conjecture that's it's the current Violet.

There's a Toffee brown. I wonder if that's Sepia re-packaged as well?

And Mystery Black?

Midnight blue, Light blue and Oyster grey have to be new.

The "Toffee Brown" sounds interesting.

I am still romping and stomping about MB's discontinuing their "Turquoise." It is the best turquoise I ever found. I wonder if the "Light Blue" might be a resurrection of that color? - Hope, hope!

This year the holiday ink is the same as last year, and it has the same name "white forest" and has fresh pine scent. It is supposed to be released come November.

Now the other new ink colors (Oyster grey, Toffee brown, Mystery black, Light sky blue, Midnight Blue, Royal purle and Ruby red...still no "samples" of the colors yet either) are listed, but still not released and we haven't seen any definitive (or estimated) date for release yet.

They are however going to be a bit more expensive, but they are incresing the bottle size from 1.6oz (50ml) to 2.0oz (60ml)

Mike, can you give us a definitive answer on the fate of MB Racing Green and Violet??

Thanks,

I agree with you about Turquoise - the best turquoise I've seen.

Light sky blue sure sounds different, but it might be nice. I'm most intrigued by the light sky blue and oyster grey.

  • 2 months later...

Among the new ink colors comentais not see anything about a new bright green but not black, which I think is going to be called Irish Green. Has anyone seen this color green with new ink at a store Montblanc. Thanks and regards.

I am the lucky recipient today of a letter written with the new MB oyster grey!

I'll let someone provide a proper review, but i'll say it's an interesting addition to the line up, and i like it.

I can't wait to try it in my pens.

Cheers

This is exactly what frustrates me about Montbanc's business practices: there is no consistency. I have basically been told the opposite to what you have - that Racing Green is staying, but Violet is discontinued. The truth? Who knows. But my cellar is stocked with Racing Green just in case : )

Has anyone actually seen some of the 2009 Seasons Greeting ink for sale, specifically in Australia? I have been looking for months and no one seems to think it's actually released. The pen shops and MB boutiques have none.

Its been on sale here in the UK but can't help you with Australia - however I did think it went on sale rather late and was not at all well publicised.

I'm interested in finding out where the new inks are available? It's obviously reaching some outlets for people to be able to see and write with it. Where was your user based?

I had asked Pencraft in Adelaide about it a couple of months back, and got a phone call a bit later to say they had it in, and I asked if they could check that the ink was OK because of all the problems the Christmas before - and lo and behold, every bottle had either mouldy bits or the lid was corroded........so the whole lot was sent back to the Aussie supplier, and I've heard no more!!

Each day is the start of the rest of your life!

Make it count!!!

FWIW, I was in Auckland in Aug 09 and went into the MB boutique there. They had like 20-30 bottles of seasons greetings ink 2008 (white forest) there. I bought 2 bottles but was concerned that it would leak so didn't buy more. Price was NZ$28 each.

So, if you're in the neighbourhood, it would be worthwhile to check it out, since 2008 and 2009 ink are the same.

Best regards, Kai
