In response to one observation above -- the nib is monotone -- according to the photos that I saw at the Boutique.

Oh. That's a pity. I was hoping it would be identical with the regular one, just with pink gold instead of yellow.

I'm not sure I'd want a monotone 149. For me, the three toned nib is its greatest attraction.

Yeah, I have the 100th anniversary LE.... So what's with the MB calendar?

They celebrate 90 years of the Meisterstuck series.

I guess they are celebrating the 90th anniversary of the Masterpiece which was introduced in 1924. So they do not celebrate the 149's birthday nor the birthday of the other 14x pens (two years ago, there was a special event for the 60th birthday of the 149).

Let's wait and see their marketing campaign.

But as you know ... Montblanc always liked "playing" with its own history. May be some of you remember the 1988 anniversary pen for the 80th annivversary? Well in 2006 they had their 100th anniversary ... so obviously, they do not care much about their history.

This is probably why the sale rep said '90 years of what' when I called in to ask about the 90 year 149.

:D May be he was afraid that you would buy your next Montblanc in almost 30 years :lticaptd:

Houston MB also have a a sale going on. I stopped to pick up my 149 from service and they showed me a nice collection at 50-60% off. This year they actually have nice stuff I'd consider, like steel dou 146, carbon 146, etc. I was surprised they didn't advertise as they've done in the past.

As for advertising the sale, this past weekend I was in the MB shop at the Palazzo and the sales associate said that there is a rumor this may be the last private sale due to the new CEO.

That would be a shame. I have bought pens during the last 3 sales.

Hmm, is the bottom a 146 and the top a 149? There's hope the 149 may have a multi-color nib yet!

i was told that the 149 with rose gold trims would be added to the normal line-up, but for this year only, it would come with the 90 year nib.

If only it was in silver/platinum! I don't like the rose gold.

Wouldn't it then be only a regular 149? The rose gold is the only difference as far as i understand.

The 75th anniversary also had a little diamond and there was a cheaper yellow gold version.. Will the " normal " yellow gold edition of this year have a 90 etched nib?

To "Opooh" and "NOS" in particular :

Hello, according to my MB dealer and the pics I have seen there, there will be no diamond on the top this time, and only a rose gold version is scheduled for the basis version ; there will be two other versions, one limited (only with the "normal" size, i.e., for fountain pens, the Chopin size) and another very limited with absolutely unaffordable prices...

The last one will be the Skeleton, comes later this year.

Went to the MB Vancouver boutique today and talked to a very pleasant and knowledgeable sales lady.

As per our conversation, here's the following FACTS about the 149 (she showed me their internal catalogue for sales with actual pictures)

-rose gold metal trims (clip, bands, etc)

-snow logo is same as the current 149, meaning not Mother of Pearl.

-nib is single color/monotone rose gold

-nib has etching of "90"

-MSRP is Canadian Dollar 960.00 + taxes

-comes in specially designed box

-no info was given if it comes with ink and what color is the ink.

Cheers.

That's a pity. I was thinking about buying one, but for me a 149 with a monotone nib is like a Ferrari with a diesel engine. :(

April is just around the corner. I wonder what the actual release date is and when MB will start promoting the pen on its website. I will be at the Tysons MB Boutique next weekend at a watch event and maybe I will learn more then.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
