Gold ink

I think I would like to try a gold ink with my dip pen for scrapbooking. Can anyone suggest a good brand and where to buy? Thanks,

Winsor and Newton make a pretty gold-colored ink. I bought a bottle at a Michael's store. It covers its line well, but you will probably want to use a rather broad nib if you are writing on white paper. Too thin, and the gold color disappears.

Here's some more too.

I use a homemade mix of fine metallic powder (that you can get at any craft store), powdered gum Arabic and water. I find it easier to use than Herbin or the acrylic-based metallic liquids I've tried. BONUS: It's pretty inexpensive.

jbb gets really nice results with the metallic powders. I always look forward to seeing how her letters will look, not just reading what's in them. ;)

I agree, jbb is responsible for my hunt for gold ink. Very pretty and not just the gold either. :puddle:

I love the metallic blue she's been using! Have you seen that one yet?

Yeah, she's inspired me too. I think I'm going to have to buy some metallic powders and learn how to use those dip pens I have lying around.

Thank you guys for saying such nice things. There's a metallic called Scarab Beetle that switches from green to red depending on the light that is also wonderful. A company called LuminArte sells the metallic pigment for that.

No, I haven't seen the blue, maybe we can persuade her to post a sample. <hint hint>
