In Praise Of Taccia Pens

Recommended Posts

Awhile back I wrote a post that complained about the nibs on my Taccia Pens. Shortly after that I received a reply to my post and a PM from Tony Lin at Taccia. Tony told me that Taccia had made changes in their feeds and he would replace my nibs with the new ones.

A few days later the package arrived. I popped the new nibs in and ...WOW...they are fantastic writers. I am happy to say that my Taccias now all write as good as they look!!!! The new nibs are smooth and reliable. They start immediately even after being in my desk drawer for days and the flow is perfect.

I have always loved the Taccia appearance and price but had a few problems with the flow - but now I love both the writing and appearance. In fact, have been unable to put my beautiful Atlantis Blue Doric down since replacing the nib!

I was so happy I ran right out and bought another Taccia (Momenta). They are indeed great pens.

And a very big praise to Taccia for top notch customer service. That's what really counts!!!!!!

I'll second the great Taccia customer service. I was in a meeting and the lady next to me was using a Continental. I complimented her on it and she gave it to me at the end of the meeting. It had a cartridge in it, so I emailed them asking where I might get a converter for it. A few days later a package came in the mail...it was a converter...sent at no charge.

Glad to hear your experience with Taccia customer service. I enjoy using my wife's Taccia Nightlife, and I'm considering getting one for myself.

Regards,

Ray

The Staccato is an amazing pen - It is a big pen - so large that it doesn't need to be posted at all when one write with it. Mine had feed problems but not with the new feed!!! Now my Staccato writes like a champ and is one of my favorite pens in my collection. It almost never leaves the rotation.

I'm glad to hear of these good outcomes. I wish I could relate a similar experience. My Taccia Mother of Pearl pen had maddening skipping problems that I couldn't isolate to nib only, or feed and nib. Since it is the 18k nib, I didn't ask Tony to just send me a new one. I sent the pen to Taccia's repair department to be adjusted. That was almost two months ago now, and I haven't had a word from anybody at Taccia. I wrote Tony a note a couple of weeks ago, asking about the pen's status. I haven't gotten a response yet. I'm in a holding pattern. I'd really like to have my pen back; and join the chorus of happy customers.

Enjoy your 'new' pens.

Cheers,

Joe

Could you post a review of the Taccia Momenta you got. It look very interesting. What color did you get?

Yeah, a review would be a nice thing for curious people and I am one among them.

I second John's praise. I met Shu-Jen (and Tony) at the L.A. Pen Show. The service I received was exceptional. She did indicate there were a few issues with certain feeds and nibs and the problem has been corrected.

As the owner of about 12 (purchased 3 at the show) Taccia pens I know the quality is inherently there.

Add another to the chorus of praises. I received a beautiful Staccato (blue) for a gift, but it had feed problems. After an email to Tony I received a new nib and the pen works as well or better than any pen I own. I can't recommend the company highly enough.

As I've written before on FPN, I've received exceptional customer service from Taccia and Tony in particular relative to ink flow problems I had with my Imperial Portuguese. I've always liked the styles, colour selections and price point of Taccia pens and now that the ink flow issue has been cured the way their pens write. I was so impressed by the level of commitment that Taccia and Tony demonstrated to ensuring my complete satisfaction with my Imperial Portuguese that I bought a Premier hot off the initial production run. It too is a remarkable pen for the money. Now all I need (want is more like it) is a Staccato in red/brown ebonite with a solid gold nib.

I have had nothing but good luck with my Taccia pens, and it is good to hear another positive assesment of their products and service. Taccia really took it on the chin during the phase of the ink feed problems. I feel that too many people are remembering the problem and not Taccia's efforts to resolve it and make things right with their customers. I feel that Taccia pens are very good values for the money, and frequently recommend them.

I will do my best to post a full review but am pressed for time over the next few weeks. So here is a quick review below:

This pen is beautiful!!! For one thing it has a "twisted barrel" just like the Visconti Divina's (hard to see in the photo but in real life it's really cool). The color I chose is "Midnight Clouds" but I just bought a Marine Blue one as well (have to show a pic another time). The Momenta is a large pen - as big as a Stipula Etruria or MB 149. The feel is wonderful - the swirling barrel creates a unique feel in the hand. The color is also amazing - the resin has a sparkling depth to it. The nib is silky smooth and the new Taccia feed makes the pen write as dependably as any pen I own including those costing hundreds more.

The price is fantastic for a pen of this quality - something that Taccia is known for (at least to me) - great quality and unique pens at great prices! :clap1:
