Diamine Monaco Red

I know there are a couple reviews of this ink, but I want to add my 2 cents!

This ink is a beautiful deep red color, similar to Noodler's Antietam with a little less orange.

The flow is great in my Pilot 78G stub nib and has a beautiful color on Staples' bagasse eco-friendly paper.

Here's a little scan, hope you enjoy!

I like this ink a lot, too. In person, I see a much different color than I see on the monitor here. I see little orange, but a lovely blood red (crimson, I guess that would make it.) But it has all the good qualities you cite.

Thanks for the review,

Mark

Looks more orangy here than I've seen with mine--but I'll have to try it on some of my bagasse paper to see if that makes a difference. A great deep red, it reminds me a bit of Visconti Bordeaux. I was curious about the name--it does appear that the flag of Monaco has this color--at least from what I see on Wikipedia. Thanks for the review.

This ink stained a new gold nib of mine after one fill and i have not yet been able to remove the stain. Just my experience. Liked the colour.

This sits in my Nakaya flexi fine nib. Great ink in a great pen! Pen has just written straight off after being out of use for months, and the fine line gives the more intense shade of the ink as apposed to the more feint examples shown in the stub nib example above. Really like it.

I used Monaco Red for a fair amount of time. It is a wonderfully rich color and perfect for editing. I stopped using it, though, because it completely disappeared when splattered with water. (It is a complaint that I have with each of the admittedly few Diamine inks I have tried out. Absolutely zero water resistance, at least at the time; I don't know if any have been reformulated.)

Yeah, all of my inks show very differently on this bagasse paper. I was nervous at first, but this as well as all of my other inks are much deeper on other papers.

I'm not worried about this staining my plated 78G nib as I don't think I'll ever take think ink out of it! And, with the pen being red, it would add a nice accent. No really, I haven't had problems yet and I don't know what to suggest...

I'm also not worried about water resistance, as I mostly write at home...I did just address and envelope with it though...curious :hmm1:

Anyway, I love this ink so far. I will definitely buy a full size bottle when this 30mL one is gone!

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
