I have some of the regular sized ones. They're attractive and feel nice and open flat, but like all things moleskine, the paper is highly variable in quality for FP use. If you really want a notebook to use with a fountain pen, you might want to keep looking.

I have just started using one. I wanted something similar to a softcover. The problem is the cover is somewhere in between a soft cover and the hardcover. They are not bad, just not quite what I wanted. Note there is no back pocket.

Need money for pens, must make good notebooks. :)

I broke my golden rule (never ever buy Moleskin rubbish again) and bought a pack of the small volants. I really likes the colours for a project I was working on. Pleasantly surprised by the paper stock which handles my FPs well - but isn't that the problem with Moleskin? Its a lucky dip - you never know what you'll get.

I use the Xtra small for in my pocket--for quick notes and drawings--works great with a pilot prera and pilot cartridges I carry in my pocket with it--Love them!

Thanks.

I bought some pink ones for my wife, she wants to keep a journal of her pottery class, and I bought some blue ones. I keep one in my left front pocket with a small Monteverde Sonata Tiger eye FP. I find them really good. Takes ink well. My wife uses ball points and then sketches in pencil, she says they are great.

I like the colors, paper, and size. I usually like ruled, but for the size I am liking the unruled.

:happyberet: After much reading and surfing this forum, I decided that I would try a Moleskine. I needed a pocket-size notebook and the KLMB710 Moleskine Pocket Ruled Notebook, with its rounded corners and elastic band to keep it closed, seemed to fit my needs. I've tried several pens/nibs and inks this afternoon and find no bleed through with F and M nibs but B nibs do. But I will not be using B nibs in this little book anyhow. The paper is nice and smooth and the ink colour just jumps right out at you like no other paper I've used so far. The paper is cream or off-white, very pleasing to the eye. The notebook is 3.5" x 5.5". With 192 ruled pages, it will last me for several years. The round corners will be easy on shirt pockets. The book appears to be rugged enough to withstand a lot abuse and sweat while out cycling and hiking.

Thanks to all for all your comments regarding this product.

:happyberet: Well OK Limesally, maybe I am exaggerating. But this little book is just for notes and a few sketches, not really a diary as such. Let's see now......192 divided by 3.........yup, 64 pages a year for 3 years is just about right for this little guy. :P

I have a cycling diary, a home diary, a genealogy diary and lately a scottish country dancing diary not to mention my car operating diary. In 2002, I began a notebook I call "Scraps of my Life" and from time to time I fill a page or two about certain events in my life. It is kept in a "secret" place, if that's possible.

So as you can see, my new little notebook is spared from much writing and will last for quite a while. :)

Cheers. :D

I picked up a pair of plain x-small black/black for myself and plain x-small pink/rose for my wife. I really like them because I can carry them in my pocket and use them anytime I need take a note or make a quick sketch of an idea. The only Problem I have is that the corners tend to take a lot of abuse in my pocket and are getting... well ugly is the only way I can describe it.

However my main purpose for buying them was so I could look at them and make some myself...

I have a pair of the med ones I bought a few months ago, but sadly.. they are kind of useless to me. They don't lie flat at all, unless you really push and smush it down and then hold it, and even then, you're writing into and out of a hump and screwing up the glued spine.

I've only used these in the extra-small size and usually keep one in my bag for those rare times when I need to write something down for someone else. All the pages in the extra-small Volants are perforated and they're the smallest, flattest notebook I know of that has removable pages. I have a couple of them and it will probably take me years to finish them. Apica makes an equally small notebook that I like better than the Volant, but the pages aren't perforated and I have an irrational aversion to ripping the pages out of books unless they're meant to be torn out.

In the regular pocket size, unless one really likes the colors, I don't see the point of the Volants. If I want a thin flat notebook like the Volant in that size, I prefer the Cahier.

Yep. The cahiers are pretty well behaved with my pens/inks - see below ...

Just to add - I have a few Moleskines.

The problem is water based ink - water based ink seeps through (99% off all times)

Gallus ink like Montblanc Blue Black however works perfectly as it stays on the surface of the paper.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
