what pen has surprised you with it ink capacity ?

You got a pen filled it with ink and the ink refuses to run out. The pen writes and writes with no sign of stopping.

Do you have such a pen ?

I have few pens with an impressive ink tank like my 149, Paragon and few others but one pen left them all behind (to my disbelieve).

That pen is my recently fully restored Parker Vacumatic standard.

I can't believe this but I filled this pen few weeks ago and it is still going strong.

When I had a Pilot VP I had to fill it almost everyday doing the exact same job as the Vacumatic does.

I can't believe that a pen this small (about 5") will hold so much ink.

Bravo Parker,bravo.

The ink is stored directly in the barrel of a Vacumatic pen. I would not be surprised if it holds more ink than a piston filling pen of comparable size. The best part is on most models you can view the ink level in the barrel.

Biggest surprise for me is how much ink an 88P holds. Much more than I expected.

Mine would be the 149.I know its big, but I wasn't too sure how much to expect out of it. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised.

The newest members to my collection, a Stipula Vedo and Ventidue hold an extraordinary amount of ink. I've been using both for a couple of weeks and they are still on their original fill despite fairly consistent writing. I don't think I have another pen that lasts as long in the ink department. Very impressed.

My Danitrio Cum Laude, actually - it's a C/C, but it's a big converter.

My Sailor with its EF nib gives me a far better mileage on the cartridge than my piston pens like my M800 which has a juicy M nib. However in terms of ink capacity I think my new Deccan masterpiece wins followed closely by my BHR Advocate.

I find that 149's hold a very good amount of ink. But, my Danitrio Densho and Mikado take the prize. They are physically large pens, eyedropper fillers, and I knew they would hold a lot of ink. But when I actually filled them, I was stunned. A bottle of J. Herbin does not go far with one of them! :yikes:

I had a Sheaffer Vac fill standard balance which held a ton of ink - the lack of a sack, piston drive/vac unit/breather tube etc.. made it one of the most efficient filling pens I've used and one that took advantage of almost the entire internal volume of the pen. When working they are a very underrated filling mechanism and now that a number of folks have the ability to restore them to arguably better than original condition there's little reason not to have one.

A vote for the humbles....the Reform 1745. I may be wrong, but the amount of ink it holds must be similar to the modern Pelikan M400's series, which although sporting a much wider barrel have a piston filling mechanism that goes only half the way up. Not in the same league that the MB 149 or the Omas, but still a whole lot of ink!.

Thanks to Lexaf for convincing me on getting one btw.

My Pelikan M805. It ran out of ink a while back, and I was so stunned that at first I thought something had gone wrong with it. I momentarily forgot it doesn't generate its own supply of ink.

And then there's the Pelikan Level 5/Level 65 series. Ink capacity? Think "War and Peace" length - particularly with a F nib.

The diminutive 'P51' with an xf nib can write seemingly forever.

I used a MB 149 and several Pelikans, but the ink in my recent Stipula Vedo seems to last an eternity... And it offers probably the nicest view one can hope for of an ink reserve in a FP ! The great ink-window and the movement in it when one writes...

I'm thinking more of how long a pen lasts with a fill of ink more than sheer capacity, maybe because a lot of my pens hold 1.5 mL +. But two pens have surprised me at how long they last between fills: Aurora 88P and my Snorkel Valiant. The 88P holds an average amount for a piston filler, 1.4 mL IIRC; the Snorkel holds even less. Both just keep on ticking. :)

I really like the Reform 1745 I converted to a cursive italic/stub. I have adjusted it to be about an 8 on the Binder wetness scale and am glad that for a slim pen it holds a good amount of go juice.

I have a Pelikan 620, with an XF nib. Although I love it, I usually hesitate before putting it into my rotation, because I'm not sure if I want to make that much of a commitment!

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
