Nava Notes

Recommended Posts

I was at a bookstore near where I live and I saw these $6 120-page, Italy-made Nava notebooks. I asked one of the cashiers about if they were suitable for fountains, and she said that the pages were thick, and may be suitable for any kind of pen.

But my question is, do any of you have experience with them, and how are they with fountains?

I live in So. California but was recently visiting my mother in Dallas, Texas. On the same day I bought my second Lamy Safari (an aluminum Al-Star) at a pen store in the Valley View mall, I took mom to a movie in Plano and stopped in afterwards at Legacy Books, where I bought my first Nava Notes notebook, an orange A4. I can report that fountain pens + nava notes is a great combo. The paper is thick, doesn't bleed through, provides good nib traction but is still very smooth -- in short, very enjoyable to write on.

My experience was similar. I have Nava Notes in A4 and A5 sizes. The paper is thick and well-behaved with my Lamy Safari F nib and Lamy Al-Star M nib. I like the date system at the top of the page; if I recall the last thread on this correctly, others were not as fond.

I don't know about the notebooks but I am rather fond of Nava pencils.

I like Nava woodcase pencils as well, although I prefer a triangular or hexagonal barrel to a round barrel. Also, Nava pencils are a little narrow in diameter for those with large hands. But, they have a very nice, dark lead, and they sharpen well.
