Does anyone know if so called international (montblanc ) type cartridges would fit an older Wearever fountain pen?

Best Regards

Do they fit? No.

Can they be forced on? Yes.

The Parker cartridges fit well but are too long.

Cross cartridges also work in that they can be forced on but are a slightly larger in diameter than the international cartridges.

Hello,

What about LAMY cartridges?

They do fit some PARKER pens and they are shorter.

Maybe they would fit inside a Wearever pen.

Esterbrook cartridges might fit. I have a Wearever Pennant & an Esterbrook cartridge FP in front of me. The shorter Esterbrooke cartridge fits pretty well to the Pennant. (But the cartridge from the Pennant won't fit the Esterbrook; too long.)

I have a few of the Esterbrook cartridges left (bought them cheap as NOS in EBay), but the ink have dried up/evaporated over the years. No problem though, I just use a syringe & fill them from ink bottle; good as new. (In fact, it is better IMHO, as I can use whichever ink I choose.) :D

I can send you a spare one if you want.

The Lamy's are too long as well (at least for the Wearever cartridge pen I have on hand).

I am so necro-posting here; brought this topic up via Google as I have a couple of old Wearever cartridge-fillers. One had an old cartridge inside but it's kind of grungy and yucky...

I tried altering a Sheaffer cartridge, but that wouldn't work because it was too wide; it would have gotten stuck in the Wearever barrel. Finally what I did was take a short international size cartridge (it happened to be a Pelikan) and bore out the mouth with a 1/8" drill bit. It seems to fit very snug on the nipple and it fits nicely in the barrel, although I haven't put ink through it yet. The interior space is so limited that so far I haven't found an international converter that will fit in it (which I'd like to have to flush it and so I wouldn't have to mess with syringe-filling the cartridge over and over...).

Anyone else found anything more on this?

Maybe you should ask from pendemonium. They have exotic cartridges sometimes.

I have several new- old stock cartridges with ink in them. I doubt that the ink is usable, so I may try refilling one with Parker Quink and see if I can revive the old Wearever FP I have.

Follow-up to my last post in this topic... I used the altered cartridge with nary a leak; the only problem was that widening the opening made it large enough for the agitator ball to fall out, so I had to be careful of that.

Converter-wise, Tryphon's Bantam converters fit in the barrel. Since the converter is a tougher material than a cartridge, I had to use a 9/64" drill bit to make it work, and it went on very tight at that. (I haven't used it with the converter yet but I'll be surprised if it would leak.)

I also have one of these older Wearever cartridge pens.

I took a Hong Dian short style 3.4mm bore converter and then, with an Xacto knife, scraped the bore out a little and it fit nice and snug. Take care you are scraping the blade the entire depth of the opening and you don't need to shave off much to make it fit so test fit often. Or maybe come up with an easier way to widen the bore.20260220_134437.thumb.jpg.7e4e62e4ab5c2511aa5e495a7d7aca82.jpg
