Never a fan of BIC. The Staedtler Stick 430 M was a much better pen to erm... borrow from work. :)

Borrow, or borrow with no intent of returning? :P

Oh blimey! Will I have The Sweeney breaking down my door?

One or two of the Staedtler pens may have ended up in my pocket, but that was due to sheer absent-mindedness, not being an actual "tea leaf" or the usual response of "well it's a perk of the job" nicking items from work.

I always had a nice Parker ballpoint as my main pen for work, and my secretary was able to order Parker refills on the stationery budget. :)

I nicked things from my university all the time... I figured since I was paying far too much for it, I might as well as make it up by nicking printer papers from the copy machine. Not much else worth taking, however (did go through medicine cabinets during my rounds, but couldn't take anything stronger than ibuprofen).

GClef, Amber was right. We really do need to stage an intervention.

I never managed to use a Bic Crystal completely. Is something wrong with me? They always stop writing way before it looks empty. And I got some of them to break the tip or drip at the connection with the ink tube.

But I agree it has a classic design and it's important that we have really cheap pens so everyone can afford one. I also find their pieces useful, both the cap and the body can even be used to save lives.

The pen barrels saved lives at one of my previous jobs.

We kept mislaying the teaspoons in the work's kitchen, so a BIC barrel made an ideal tea and coffee stirrer. :)

Yes, can't live without good tea. Half the British population would wither and die without it (the other half dying without beer, I suppose).

I did learn how to save lives by using thin, cylindrical objects to open airways, but I doubt BIC barrel would do the job. It'd probably clog up, as that seems to be a favourite pastime for BIC products (rather miffed at the moment, BIC tippex has decided to clog up and die and I accidentally wrote lager instead of larger on a document).

I've used them in schooldays, obligatory, a Parker or a Shaeffer was forbidden by the teachers. Later I wrote with about every brand of writing gear, but I never touched a Bic again.

On the other hand I use their lighters, but yeah, lighters were also forbidden at school.

Used Bic Cristals all through High School, along with my Shaeffer cartridge pen, and P51 for final years. Teachers did not care what we used. interestingly even though the P45 was out , I never saw one at school, but many Platignums and Shaeffers....and tons of Bic Cristals.

And the tubes also made a very good blow pipe at high school when used with rice, and quickly concealable.
