G.Lalo Vergé de France

This is a small review of G. Lalo Vergé de France paper in ivory colour.

It is an A4 glued pad with 50 sheets.; very well groomed in a both utilitary and smart design.

Open up the pad and you will find a bunch of 50 glued sheets very ease to tear it out without any trace.

The paper itself oozes quality through and through. Maybe this is a pity when it comes to daily use, since it could be regarded as sort of pretentious gear (as most of fountain-pen-related stuff, on the other hand; I'm afraid) or too formal.

Watermark gives it an impressive appearance.

It is very fountain pen friendly despite its rugged texture, which might lead someone to think that it could result in choked writing (well, maybe if you are one of those who really put very little pressure on the nib...).

No bleed, no feathering... Not annoying.

OK. That's all about it. I recommend it for your special manuscripts.

Nice review, Kurtz, I like textured paper, too. What is the cost of the pad and where did you get it from, if I may ask? The Ivory color looks perfect, not bright white.

I'm glad that you liked.

I bought this at The Writing Desk. It was £6.59 plus shipping (£3.50; but you can save money if you gather some items).

I use this paper for almost all my correspondence. G. Lalo makes envelopes to match and it comes in an array of attractive colours. The lined envelopes are just as nice and just as well-made as the pads. I get mine from Swisherpens.com (not a relative just a happy customer.) I believe the pads are about $10 and I think 25 matching envelopes are $12 - but don't quote me.

Nice review, Kurtz. Thanks for taking the time.

Love the Ivory, just haven't bought any in awhile!

Kurtz, great review. This is my current favorite paper. And what you say about photos vs scans is quite right; your pics capture the wonderful texture of the paper. I don't seem to have the photographic ability for that myself.

I had to order mine from The Vickerey (here's their stationery page) because they were the only US supplier that carried the large A4 size.

Gonna have to give this stuff a try; looks like it works well with FP ink...

I also take only pictures. I like to do a custom white balance adjustment on a piece of white paper under the illumination that I'm going to take the photo. This helps minimize the need for color correction later (which is only going to work on your own monitor anyway).

Along with Cranes, G. Lalo is my default stationary for letters. Great review!

Thanks for the lovely review, Kurtz! It's relatively expensive, but I like using it for your snail mail. I'm currently using the light blue and green paper with matching envelopes. Ivory is slightly more formal, I think.

Soki
